HI,
I have insomnia too. I just sleep when my body says 'Ok, lets sleep now' but most can't do that. I am disabled, so can afford the luxery of being at home to sleep when I need and not at a job.
Have you tried any teas? That used to help me, not now, but used to.

Insomnia is one of the worst things. I suffer from it sometimes. My mind will not shut off, too many thoughts, stress, etc.

It's gotten to the place for me where I "go with it". I read or get up and do something or flip through the tv channels. It's better than tossing and turning and watching the clock. Makes for a rough afternoon, though, because that's when the tiredness will hit me.

I know there's a thread here somewhere about insomnia.

If you can, take a hot shower...not uncomfortably hot but definitely warmer than you may be accustomed. This will relax you. Go to bed as soon as you dry off and feel the difference immediately.

Here's the obligatory "masturbate to orgasm" suggestion.

Good ideas...thanks.
I am one of those who can fall asleep initially within a minute of hitting the pillow, but wake up about two hours later and then toss and turn until about four in the morning. Ugh. I will definitely try your suggestions especially Katy's :)

Insomnia!
Help!

As Colonel John Alexander would say : You need to quiet your mind. There are many ways to do this and seriously works.
http://www.topten.org/public/BF/BF22.html

My personal way is through intense physical excersise {I belong to gym with an indoor track and 24 hr. acess.} After the excersise, I get an intitial feeling of euphoria and I'm wide awake. And then I'll go home, lay down and read or watch a little TV. I slowly drift off and usually go into a very deep sleep and feel great when I wake up.

Good Luck.

Having a little sachet of lavender and chamomile under my pillow always helped me. So does a long, hot bath and a good book. Good luck getting to sleep. (I know how you feel).

You mean, to wake you up? Apples, seriously.

To the OP, there is another site with a thread dedicated to the insomniacs of the world. Check out the BDSM Chat boards of literotica.com - there is a thread called "Insomniacs unite by request" ... I'd post the link, but right now, my computer doesn't like that site. I'll try to find it later.

1. Exercise

2. Lower your sugar and caffine intake

3. Try sleep aides at a natural food/drug store

4. Try over the counter sleep aids

5. Read the bible before going to bed

6. Watch a 24 hr news station

7. Watch the Weather Channel

8. See a Dr about prescriptoin sleep aides

9. Start cleaning the place untill you get sleepy

There you go. 9 ideas that you can try all together or pick a few out of and juggle all around to see what works.

what you have described is a sign of a hormone deficiency--its a classic example, you might try adding natural hormone therapy (soy milk or soy nuts to your diet) or there are OTC hormone therapies that help--but this isnt insomnia in its simplest forms

this site may help--

Hey...you're back. Congrats! MY gyn thinks I may be in the early stages of menopause since I am also showing some other signs of it along with massive insomnia that appears to be related somewhat to my cycles. The insomnia for some women is a classic symptom. I do like all of the suggestions. Thank you all
