I live in California, where it's well populated with people in the nursing major.  Competition is outrageous and the wait is at least 1-2 years, if you don't make the criterias to qualify for automatic enrollment.

I wanted to know if anybody can recommend any other states that would be good to move to for their nursing schools?  I'm looking for the state and its cities as a whole as well as their choices in nursing schools.

Any advices will help.  Thanks!

Well I live in Georgia and received my nursing degree here.  From what I understand, there are nursing school waiting lists all over the country.  Part of the reason behind the nursing shortage is that there aren't enough educators in nursing, so the spots in nursing school are very limited.  That being said, I know of at least 5 schools in metro Atlanta (depending on whether you want a BSN or ADN) that have a nursing program.  If I were you, I would select some cities and contact the schools- they should be able to give you a better idea of the number of applicants vs. the number of students accepted into the program.  Good luck!

i agree.  the lines to get in are incredibly long.  have you tried some on line schools?  also, getting your prerequisites out of the way would only increase your chances of getting in the next time around.  my school had a scoring system to admit potential students, and that was part of it, what courses had you taken, ect.  the online programs can usually take you less time, but the clinical part can be a major hassel.  either way, its truly rewarding once you are finished.

i wish you much luck

RI has a community college with a nursing school/associate's degree you should look into.
There are also RI College and University of RI, and I've not heard of long waits to get into them, but don't take my word, investigate, as they are all online and you can contact the schools that way.   M
