Part of the problems we face, in my so very humble opinion, stem from the expectation that the media and other entertainment venues are responsible for what we think.

Though I don't loose any sleep over these musings (I assure you), in some ways I believe the entertainment industry is a factor in the overall aggregate of collective opinion, as well as a mirror of that collective opinion—current company possibly excluded. The viewership count of so many programs is usually only a fraction of the population, but I still believe their messages contribute slightly to our culture in an abstract "swarm intelligence" sort of way.

I'd have to spit in the wind of experience, to argue otherwise.  I particularly appreciate your wording, and agree that it is a factor and reflection of collective/popular opinion.  As a counter-balance to your argument, I think that it has also begun to reflect a less intolerant view, and the impression of a cultural swing to a lessened social bias, in some instances anyway.  However, I wouldn't want to set any compass of mine, soley off of media hype.

Another show that has had some BDSM context that I thought was amusingly portrayed was on Bones.  There was an episode on pony play that was artfully done as well as an episode of a Female Dominant and her male submissive partner.  Too bad they were killers, but still,  I really love that show.

House had an excellent show on D/s. The Dominant in this case knew her submissive better than he knew himself. It is the second or third time I have seen Chase "recognize" a D/s relationship, or a Dominatrix. Interesting.

Yea, my Dom had me watch the preview. So excited that Lady Heather is coming back for another show. Can't wait to see her in action again.

WannaSPOON -> RE: New Kinky CSI (11/1/2008 1:07:48 PM)

Melinda Clarke is a very beautiful woman. Not only does she do Lady Heather well, but she did a loosely related character in Firefly, for those fellow sci-fi nerds out there.

There's some truth there as well. There's no doubt in my mind things are in some ways "loosening up" toward what is acceptable to digest in entertainment. I just wonder how that converts to the voting public's overall impressions about actual D/s in real life, past the furry handcuffs.

Perhaps one day there may be a well produced and written series centered around serious D/s and alternative lifestyles that doesn't involve crime scenes, psycho murderers and dead bodies. In writing that, I then wondered if the viewership would be interested as much as they were with say, Sex and the City.

Great show...

CB48197 -> Avengers (11/4/2008 6:12:00 AM)

Let's not forget Dianna Rigg in all those great leather outfits she wore on that great show of the 1960's.As Emma Peal she had a very Dommant screen personna to make the whole thing work.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Avengers (11/4/2008 4:31:58 PM)

I was so in love with both Diana Rigg and John Steed when i was a very sweet, very young kiwi.  They were the epitome of cool for me  - and yes, Diana Rigg wore the best outfits.  *sigh*  they just don't make shows like that one any more! * wanders off, feeling very old and decrepid*

if you depend on the media to do your thinking for you, then only one person has an opinion.

subintrainingnc -> RE: Avengers (11/5/2008 6:46:58 AM)

i have never watched CSI, but it is a show that you really don't need to know too much background to get it, right? This episode will be on tomorrow right? and if i happen to forget, i am guessing it will be online too? i will have to check out the station and time listing, thanks for the heads up! :)

satyrsnymph28 -> RE: Avengers (11/6/2008 9:29:48 PM)

Ok, so I just watched it.

I love Lady Heather.  She's beautiful and has quite an amazing role... she's amazing every time she's on.

I don't want to give it away for anyone who missed it, but it finally goes into a little more than latex and bondage.

There will be more.  Of that you can be assured.

It was funny to watch her on the show initially, because I was watching with my parents, and had just began active participation in the BDSM lifestyle, where the initial latex and Lady Heather episode aired.  Interesting to see them exposed to something I was involved in, but in a very different way.

I love Lady Heather, but I was upset to see that it will not continue in next weeks episode.  Now I'm waiting... hurry up, darn it.

Agreed.  It was a good show last night.

I have long wanted to film an erotic and artistic documentary, of BDSM, that reveals the psychology, physiology and artistry of what it is that we do.  To share with the world the beauty I see.  Forgetting, of course, that I have no talent or knowledge in that area, and can't even take a decent picture!

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: New Kinky CSI (11/9/2008 12:04:36 PM)

i finally watched the episode on demand today and yes, i do hope they continue this episode!

the case itself really did leave a major loophole as to whom (pural) killed the male submissive and his gf even though each suspect questioned had a role in the murders. plus i enjoyed seeing Grissom gradually revealing that other side to himself - that submissive side which he tries to hide from Lady Heather. the ending led to possibilities of him exploring that side of himself.

BLGirl -> RE: New Kinky CSI (11/9/2008 12:26:47 PM)

And the last scene when he is laying down and asks Lady Heather to stay... She peers out into the hallway, toward the camera and slowly shuts the door. Oh to know what happened behind that door! I too have a huge crush on Grissom and would have loved to have been there for him. I am not dominant in my personal life, however, I think I could make an exception for him!

Excitedly,
BLGirl

hlen5 -> RE: New Kinky CSI (11/9/2008 8:56:24 PM)

I was glad Lady Heather was back. She seemed to act more as a profiler than a Mistress. More episodes with Gil and Heather (With them being off their respective clocks, of course).!!!!!! Melinda Clarke is also an Opera singer.
