i shouldn't answer here as i have no experience really in TENS units but a former boyfriend when i was wavering back and forth between Vanilla and BDSM moved away from me to Washington state and he he had bought this unit online in anticipation of a visit from me in October 2004....well lets just say he didn't know what he was doing with it and i was scared....but a few of the sensations were enjoyable despite his ineptitude with it? is that a word? ha ha..rhonda

TENS Units are great. They are small and easy to carry around. When traveling, it appears to be an ordinary vanilla device. If and when people ask, you can pass your Unit off as a theraputic device for muscle tension or bla bla bla... TENS units can be pleasurable for one minuet and then shocking in less than a second. During play time, I normally place them on my subs breast, thighs, and ass. I've been told that it's safe and fun to allow the current to pass through the clit but if it ain't broke, why fix it? I also make sure not to go above the shoulder with the electropads as well.

For the most part, TENS Units are very fun and safe. I plan on using them for a long time. The sooner you buy one, the sooner you'll see some of the potential. I have to warn you though, once you try them, you may find yourself becoming addicted to them because of how fun they are to use.

As for the power surge you heard about, I'd like to read of on that case myself. It seems to be a very rare incident that can happen. After all, most Units carry a 9 volt batter and have controll settings. So I don't know how you would use a surge supressor on the device. What was the result of this power surge? Burns, heart attack, death? As for prevention, make sure the pads and wires are properly on and that the gel is still good. As long as you do that, only a faulty device could cause such a heath risk.

I see no reason why you would not answer..despite your claim to no experience...yet you did say you had a few enjoyable sessions with itcorrect? ;)

your experience qualifies you for your perception and insight.

Yes anticipation of something can heoghten the session but it is much better if it is in the hands of a skiled experienced person.

Yes you are correct. A baseline should be determined rather than relying on perception.

I still have My 3M Tencare 6881 unit. It has dual leads for dual pads..making four pads total.

Back in the early 90's I use to do the typical things like placing the pads on each side of the clit and allowing it to pass thru for clitorial stimulation.

I did also attach near the genitals one lead to Myself and the other to the female submissive and engaged in sex. Various sensations could be obtained depending on settings and contact.

Later a commercially available chrome insert was used on the female submissive both vaginally and anally with great sucess.

Pretty typical stuff I guess.

Never did the nipple as I believe anything that crosses the heart can interfere with the heart. I believe there are units that were (or possibly still are) very popular localized the current to a single location.

Admittedly I have been out of the TENS usage arena as most submissives feel that is too edgy for them at first.

Seems I will need to get it out again and see what might impart.

Yes they are quite portable and useful.

I had the unfortunate introduction to them via car accident which affected My back.

Went to sports therapy and every now and then a new young nurse would do the warm up process of hot towels on My back in prep for the TENS unit and massage.

The newbie would attached the pads on My back as I was nice and relaxed and would crank up the settings so it would feel like the muscles were spasming and jumping up about an inch to two inches off of My back.

Needless to say the first time shot My eyes open real quick from the stress free lull I was in.

It got to a point where I would need to tell them how to do it. I eventually politely asked them to bring in the stereotypical sweedish 65 year old therapist for some DEEP massage. I say stereotypical as in all the comical situations you may have seen in movies regarding the older massage therapist.

I obtained My 3m Tenzcare 6881 for play.

Now how do I create a unit that would work in sync with music like the light units in the early 70's for some interesting music sessions?

Erostek ET312 has audio unputs that allow just such play :)

I just wanted to say, we have a TENS unit that runs by electricty and not batteries, so they do exist.

I didn't refuse to answer. What I asked was what you considered "ordinary" as I didn't wish to spend a lot of time talking about techniques that you would consider ordinary and you specified in your post "Any out of the ordinary usages of the TENS?"

I also didn't claim to lack experience. That would be pretty silly as I've written a book, High Tech Toys, published by Greenery Press that is largely about electrical play.

a tens unit is simular to a violet wand and I love them personaly its very erotic. U have a little tingle after wards but as long as u dont get near the heart on too high a voltage your ok...lol and this is also coming from a nurse and I dont want anyone hurt. I recomend going to a demostation some places give them...or let someone who has used it before show u...the man my old Sir let use it on me had used one for quite some time and he showed me and Sir on his slave. Its awsome! The attachments are interesting to have it moved all over your body stimulating every nerve....I personal like the body pad where they attatch it to u and when people just caress your skin it sends u over!
