Okay, let's stick with the remodeling idea for the moment.

There are going to be costs for the one doing the remodeling, especially if they have to be away from home.  At least some of those costs will probably need to be funded with cash...though it need not come directly from the remoldee.

So, how can we make this work?  Well, set aside all the safety issues and techical competency stuff for the moment, because IMO, they are not the entry-level problems.

I have limited (fixed) income to expend, but if I get what I need, I'm more'n happy to spend it anywhere.  There are others like me.  So we can theoretically fund the cash needs.

How would it work?  I think something like this:

The remodelee has access to goods I need at a lower price for some reason than I do.  The remodeler needs some cash payment but will accept some payment in trade.  The remodelee gives me and the remodeler goods and we give her cash and services.

The less cash involved the better, but I still think it's possible.

Go back to the notion of a food bank for a moment.  No one would 'take' without 'giving', at least a promise to perform in the future.  Only those with excess food stuffs would contribute, and only those with a high motivation to acquire food at little to no cost would participate.  That's just how people are wired.  So, back to the 1,000 extra cans of zucchini...if that canner needs a web site, don't we have the rudiments of a workable system?

I'm just going to list what I can offer to a barter / group / commerce exchange system.

Warhouse:20000 square foot, cheap space(I would have to charge enough to cover the payments, if this was something that would work into a system), like 350 /month, for 4000 square foot. I am attempting to rent that space, and since it is owned by the corp. I couldn't donate it, but I could rent it break even. Also, have a loading dock.

I also know the sources for like out of season items(new clothes), that can be generally had for 10 cents on the dollar,  or less, if clothing is something people wanted, however, in order to make clothing work, you generally have to hold it until in season again. You have to buy by the truckload though. IE, cost. Also, you can get furniture by the truckload at stupid cheap prices, as much as you want, for similiar pricing. Again, the only option is by the truckload.

I do have more than ample knowledge in domestic shipping and ability to store and ship large quantities of stuff with a personally built system that integrates with Fedex and USPS.

I am probably deemed intermediate in programming mostly coldfusion, and flash.

I have most common consumer level items out the ass, like dvd players, stuff like that, along with some higher end stuff, harmon kardon, bose, etc. (mostly sold all the higher end stuff off since the last load though)

So, if a concept centered around delivering stuff by post or Freight in the US, and or storing it, and or facilitating that exchange online, I'd be useful.

Now, coming up with a concept that works and people would use, and feel good about is the hard part.

Damn mony - you live too far away from me :(
I can do all sorts of remodeling work and I'm sure we could come to terms :D
