windchymes -> Things I've Already Done Before I Die (11/1/2008 6:02:21 AM)

Aileen's thread inspired me....

I thought many times how fortunate I've been in my life where I've gotten to do a lot of things that were either on my bucket list or, after I did them, I've thought how cool it was that I did get to do it.  For example, in my lifetime, I've:

Been to the top of the Eiffel Tower
Seen Anne Frank's Diary
Sung Doo-Wop on  a street corner in Philadelphia
Travelled all over the eastern half of the country, to Europe 3 times, been on 5 cruises.
Performed a Heimlich successfully
Been a radio DJ, actually on the airwaves
Back in the day, had a story published on the old UPI wire
Touched a dolphin
Snorkeled on some beautiful reefs
Driven on the Autobahn
Owned and showed a horse (growing up)

What have you already done that you're proud of, that would have been on your bucket list if you hadn't? [:)]

You know what?  My first passport had one stamp in it, and then I didn't use it again until it was too late.  I committed to going to a new country every year. (I'm about 10 years ahead now.  I can take a lil break).  I never ever wanted to have such a lonely little stamp in my passport again.

Danced on a bar
pictures please

You wish.

And may I suggest the website www.43things.com

It helps you stick to your goals and reminds you of them with little love notes you write to yourself.

well wishes,
sunshine

Just a few of the things I can say I've done before the 2-minute warning (George Carlin reference)

Jumped out of an airplane
Attended Burning Man - twice
Watched adults launch pumkins for distance
Flew a multi-engined jet - for about 5 minutes
Drove my car faster than the speedometer
Had a heart-to-heart conversation with a llama
Delayed reproducing until after my father died
Went to Disney World

made and served food to every big name band in the Reggae world at Reggae in the River.
(think Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff).
owned a Japanese Noodle biz.
performed as a fairy godmother at arts festivals and in parades.
got drunk crazy wild in Daytona during bike week and "showed my tits".
hitchhiked wearing only a bikini and never had a bad experience doing it.
grew more corn than a community of 100 could eat.
earned a nursing degree at 45.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Things I've Already Done Before I Die (11/1/2008 6:25:32 PM)

I had 3 wonderful long term relationships and we all still love and care about each other.
Had a great relationship with my parents and when they died, there was no unfinished business or anything I wish I had been able to say before they passed on.
I have been wealthy a few times.
Had songs I wrote and recorded get radio play (regional hits not nation wide).
Engineered a double platinum record (someone else’s).
Caught, tagged and released sharks twice my size.
Took turns piloting a 52 foot boat through the great lakes.
A bit of Scuba diving in the Caribbean.
Explored many uncharted Mayan ruins in the Yucatan peninsula.
Owned quite a few nice antique and custom cars, including one that went 204 mph.
I had sex while going 200 mpg on the ground, mile high club member as well as an entire “bucket list” of sexual adventures to numerous to list including the Kissle sisters and 30 orgasms in 6 hours on my 30th birthday.

The most important things on my bucket list would be those that leave my constructive mark on this world.  The vast majority of people or projects I interact with are left in just a little bit better shape than when I first found them and I have helped cure over 2 million people of arthritis with my dad’s discovery.

KMsAngel -> RE: Things I've Already Done Before I Die (11/1/2008 6:37:05 PM)

Went out on a lobster fishing boat in the Casco Bay (Maine)
Survived the deaths of 6 people close to me (5 family members, 1 friend) in an 18 month period, while going through a divorce
Learned to love myself
Took a year off work and got to know myself and travel
Went back to school after a 20 year absence
Went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on my 40th birthday, followed by attending a Broadway show
Been to Alcatraz several times
Chartered a yacht on the SF Bay (and drank too much and sang karaoke - "I will Survive")
Took care of my father through his illness (bone cancer) until his death 2 years ago
Lost everything I had, including my faith, and learned to rebuild
Walked across the Golden Gate Bridge
Mountain Biked from Big Basin to the coast and back (California - a 35 mile trek across a small mountain range and back)
Rode the Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas
Began writing a book
Took a train across the country
Took a train across Spain
Worked with about 40 kids at the Boys & Girls Club
Learned to Flamenco Dance (I'm not good at it, though!)
Learned to Belly Dance (I'm even worse at that!)
Accompanied my sister when she brought her first child home - a 4 pound 2 month old premie and ill baby boy - and photographed his birth mother lovingly handing him to my sister

Wow, what fun to relive those memories! Thanks, windchymes! [:)]

ShaktiSama -> RE: Things I've Already Done Before I Die (11/1/2008 7:49:22 PM)

Wow.  This is a fabulous idea fo a thread.  I actually started to write a post, and then realized how long I would go on if I started.

Many thanks to the OP for giving me this windfall opportunity to appreciate the gift of my life--which suddenly seems incredibly rich and incredibly blessed.  [:)]
