I agree with TheHouseOfBear, I learned a long time ago that all you can do as a friend or a parent of young adults, is to give your advise, be ready to listen and have the band-aids ready when they fall over. Life is a wonderfull teacher but a harsh one.

slavejali,
I knew a girl that almost went to meet someone that did that. He wanted her to come down to meet him. But something just didn't feel right to her. When she came and talked to me about it, I told her to listen to her instincts. Less then a month later he was arrested.
She has since left the Internet and I haven't heard from her for about 5 years.
To the OP,
Why do you say person A is a predator? What have they done for you to make that call?
And what evidence do you have? You will need to have all the answer for these questions when you “save” your friend.
Also there are several great groups in Alberta that you can tap into. Maybe go to a munch and invite your friend along.
Hope that helps,
Tony

How do you stop someone who you know is being played by an online predator?

How do you KNOW they are being played?

What do you define as a online predator?

but in the end... you share your opinion... and they either listen to it or ignore it... the choice is theirs

That killer dom was around between 5 - 7 years ago. You can read his profile on the serial killers site.

candystripper -> RE: Question? (12/16/2005 3:12:40 PM)

i have had 3 different men -- on three different sites -- hack into my pc and mess with my email; my YIM; hopefully not my C Drive but i don't know. No law enforcement help was available because they had not stolen more than $25,000. One man kept it up for months, as i went through 3 different ISP's and i suppose he'd still be at it if he hadn't eventually lost interest.

i worried about identity theft; about information i had on other people (like their email and YIM ID's); etc. but eventually i calmed down as well. Still, it was a miserable experience and could have been worse.

i have preached before about using a good firewall, virus protection, and spyware protection. About not opening or sending files through the IM. About taking care how much personal information You give out over the 'net.

You cannot leave your common sense at the door to your home office. If i were in the Op's place, i'd speak up but i'd only go so far; i would say what i could authenticate, but no more.

You can talk to them, and let them know what You have seen, but in the end it is their choice what they do. Just be a friend for them when needed.

labtec19,

All you can do is voice your concerns to the person you know is being played. It is ultimately their decision to believe or not. If you have evidence of the predators past offenses, then present it, but realize it is their choice. Being there to help them when the bottom drops out is really the only thing you can control.

DEFINE "PLAYED".
Are we talking [:'(]"broken heart played" or [:o]identity theft, raped and strangled , body found in dumpster weeks later played"?
Type A is paying ones dues to life...let it be.
Type B is hell ya stop him/her....like yesterday!
