Yyyes, I'm sorry about the squidgyness, Composer.  However, I'm sure that we were earnest and serious about everything else.

I'm going to throw a little paint at the canvas here...

Its not unrealistic to say that sometimes a women may have a little trouble hitting the switch (no pun intended) and transition from nurturer/healer/fixer/comforter to (okay, I'm reaching) Bitch Goddess. It can be a mentality unto itself and not as easy as putting on/taking off a hat.

Someone I knew in another lifetime said "Look - dont be wishy-washy. If you're going to be the Domme, then BE the Domme!'

With respect to the whole walking-before-running thing,  start small. Disciplinary Wives Club, Spanked Hubby, Elise Sutton and Loving Female Authority, etc. Its a well-worn path from spanking to all the fun stuff that we like to inflict upon the men at our feet.

Bear in mind that HE has been thinking about it for awhile. You, however, were probably taken a wee bit aback with the news and needed time to digest it. You're in good company !

Is it bad to call your dom Squidgy?

I am not sure Ma`am, but from memory i would not advise calling her "Babe" while being told off.
