winterlight -> How many of you are so into your Candidate that you lie awake in a sweat at night in bed? (11/1/2008 3:49:24 PM)

I have an in law like that and is worried about what will happen next.

I, myself, just cannot wait for the Elections to be over. I am tired of the lies. promises that won't be kept, hype etc.

I personally can't wait for the election to be over, simply because I'm tired of both Mccain and Obama. I want them to disappear, I'm tired of hearing Mccain harp about being a veteran, and Obama whisper sweet nothings in america's ear. At this point they can just leave bush in, if they just take those two away.

My candidate is Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party and I know he'll lose so I don't worry about it.
As long as I'm not voting for a Dem or Rep I'm doing a good thing!

welcome to American politics...it's all about who tells the most believeable lies and who has the greatest financial support from the rich, special interest groups. your vote doesn't count.

I admit I'm beginning to sweat.  I am fearful about the economy in a way I have not been before -- I fear we're about to experience another Great Depression.  If my history books were accurate, it was the leadership of President Roosevelt that led the country back to health in the 1930's.

According to what I've read, if it happens, the next Great Depression will be a world-wide event, not one limited to the US in particular.  The Roosevelt initiatives don't seem as if they would work a second time, and the president's ability to affect even the nation's economy, never mind the world's, seems more limited than in the 1930's.

I always wondered if Roosevelt really deserved all the credit.  It seems logical to me that the economy was stimulated more by the effects of WW II than by the New Deal.  I think another world war is simply not a viability, given the proliferation of nuclear weapons.  So if we cannot use such techniques to recover, what will pull us out?

I do feel that if it is going to happen, I'd a whole lot rather a 47 year old with a great education and at least an avowed connectivity to the plight of average people were in office.  I don't think McCain's military background is going to be all that useful, and his age will not allow him to 'carry the weight'.

No I do not lose sleep on my candidate.

Here is a text I got from a buddy of mine overseas.

"I beg you [on my knees] Don't waste your vote on protest. Make a change! I'll give you a blow job! & I am straight! Thats how strong I feel"

LOLOLOL.

oh man.

on the economy-  to lose sleep about THAT, is rational.  No one really knows how bad it will get, historically speaking, tho, I doubt it will come and fade..... the national attention span tho is the money wrench.

fractional banking --- we see, has its limits.

Niether candidate as the wharwithal to fix it.

Public TV had a panel discussing the world wide ramifications of the US problem.  They agreed that it has spread to Europe and agreed that Europe does not have the institutions to deal with the problems.  Bottom line, the US may very well survive the problems given it has the institutions to deal with the problems however Europe is probably toast.  The US may have the institutions to deal with the problems but does it have the leadership?

Elections are never over, they run as a continuous cycle. I'm not sure the next president no matter who they are is going to last more than one term. Unless people are willing to understand there is going to be no immediate answer to the current economic climate.

there never is immediate answers...only immediate problems.

...im surprised EU is entangled in US dazzling gliiter smoke and mirrors.

im also not so optimistic.    the events yet to come can only end in nukes.   900 million people starving right now.

when there is no logical way to continue conning other counties into financing US debt-  then all hell breaks loose.

Your friend sounds like a smart person.
At the very least, if his money gets tighter he will always have food on hand.
Many of us feel that things will get much worse before they get better.

TNstepsout -> RE: How many of you are so into your Candidate that you lie awake in a sweat at night in bed? (11/3/2008 4:59:59 AM)

No I don't lie awake at night.  I've never been satisfied or felt confident in our President so it makes no difference to me. I've learned to live with it, and will again if McCain is elected. If Obama is elected I will feel hopeful that perhaps we can repair some damage of the past 8 years, but I won't hold my breath.
