I agree with DesFIP myself... I do enjoy service. But, when it's recognized. I can work hard all day on something, and be all happy about it and getting pleasure from it during the day, but if he comes home from work and is unappreciative, or doesn't notice, etc, it ruins it to the other extreme, where I actually get depressed. (That's largely psychological and related to me, rather than others, I think...) But it's important for it to BE important. I think that's why I like cooking dinner the most-- I get to sit down with him over dinner and I can see his reaction to the food and talk to him about it, rather than just, say, sweep the floor or load the dishwasher, which he may not notice. My master may have noticed that I clean the downstairs bathroom every other day but I doubt it. However, he notices every time I cook him dinner... so that becomes a higher priority.
