Rachel Maddow is great. She had one of the few shows I really could ever stand to listen to on Air America. Smart, she sure is... she is a Rhodes Scholar and ended up doing her doctorate at Oxford (hence "Ask Dr. Maddows, one of my favorite bits on her old show.. with Kent Jones). I like that she clearly states, I am a proud liberal, and does not try to slip things by as being without a view point. I also like that she directly takes on opposing view points, respectfully and often times with a lot of shy(ish) humor... I am loving the "It's Pat!" and "Talk Me Down" sections of her TV program (does anyone else find themselves humming the 'It's Pat" theme song from SNL when that comes on?). What I think I find so refreshing is that she embodies the idea that liberalism does not (have to) mean crazy lefty. She is well informed, thoughtful and a very considerate host (can you imagine trying to have "Talk Me Down with either Chris Matthews or Bill O'Reilly??? Scream me down would be more like it, and if I were the guest I have no doubt it would end up turning into Beat Me Down...honestly those two really have shouting issues to deal with.) It really has turned out to be one of my favorite shows on TV these days... nice and calm (and almost nerdily intelligent in terms of pinning down fact after fact after fact in a tedious and very stable way!!! And again, she did a great interview of Obama, in my opinion.
