ORIGINAL: TheHeretic All the election build-up is done. It's time. Just a few last thoughts to send out on what I'm hoping for. First and foremost, I hope the result is clear and definitive. No lawyers, no lawsuits. I'd prefer if it wasn't even close, but I'll settle for clear. We don't need to step into the next four years with half the country crying 'foul' and pouting. Right behind that, I hope that not one Democrat who has never voted for a Republican in his life starts tomorrow, just because of Barry's skin tone. There are plenty of good reasons not to vote for him, but that shouldn't matter. If Barry wins, I hope it is an irrevocable step forward in our evolving race relations. What are you hoping for? It may be a step forward, but not really. In my opinion, until a significant amount of hearts and minds change, this country will never reach that racial utopia. If one even exists. Obama is not a magic wizard that, once elected, will change bias, prejudice and injustice. It just doesn't work that way. He will have an uphill battle trying to effect the change he wants in government policy, that's why those who support him, need to do more than just vote, they have to be willing to get in the trenches for the next four years and put pressure on their congressional representatives to support policies that will help us all. In additon, I feel that there needs to be more community activism at the grassroots level. In another thread there was talk about looking out for family and although I had some issues with some of the assertions, I do agree that we need to get back to caring about our neighbors. There are some areas across the nation that need some serious TLC, but it will come from within, not from outside. I hope, after this election, people have enough hope to move to action and take the steps necessary in everyday life to make this country and world a better place.
