Big stretch there, huge. I would hardly try to model the politics of Jesus' day to our country in any shape, form or fashion so the bigoted "labels" aren't going to apply. I'm not going to look at most Republicans and compare them to the Pharisees, the Sanhedrin or the Roman governor of an on the verge of rebellion province.

Yup,separation of church and state goes way back,like 2000 + years back.lol He also preached/practiced feeding the hungry and poor,clothing the naked,counseling prisoners and comforting the infirmed(who had no one to care for them). More things conservatives are squarely against. And he taught liberation theology. Something conservatives call socialism.

He said nothing about having the Romans tax the shit out of the populace and have them provide those things at their whim and under their control. That is socialism. What Jesus taught seems more like libertarianism to me. Certainly can get seperation of church and state and big time individual freedom out of that more than secular socialism. However I'm not about to start comparing Jesus or his realities way back then to Ron Paul or Bob Barr. Obama doesn't rank it either.
