A brilliant comic,a lousy civics lesson.

but he makes a lot of sense, whether anyone really wants to believe him or not. He was a true visionary.

George Carlin was hilarious and actually he did give us something to think about. I mean, after 2004, I said to myself I would vote my conscious or not at all.

I'm not a kool-aid drinker (well ... yes, I am) but I do believe in promise of an Obama administration.

As I said a brilliant comic, but if you are seeing truth and common sense there...and are taking his "don't vote, don't be part of the problem" riff serious...you need to take another look at your High School civics lessons...Please.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Something to think about when going to the polls (11/4/2008 10:00:34 AM)

never went to high school...did go to college though. besides...there's never anyone to vote for anyway...just the puppets of the rich and powerful telling everyone what they want to hear in order to get their foot in the door so they can completely ignore it all and fulfill the wishes of the special interest groups, lobbyists and the rich people that paid for them to run.

Then next time get involved earlier in the process.

Today I voted for candidates I've been excited about voting for all year.

i especially like that George has mentioned many times (in a sarcastic manner) the "Your vote counts"

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Something to think about when going to the polls (11/4/2008 10:32:27 AM)

prediction: McCain (because the rich have always put white men in the White House)

Dnomyar -> RE: Something to think about when going to the polls (11/4/2008 11:16:26 AM)

Well it is called a "White House".

yourdarkdesire -> RE: Something to think about when going to the polls (11/4/2008 11:21:38 AM)

if you don't exercise your free will to vote - you have no excuse to bitch about what happen in the next four years.  Get a grip people and get out there and do you civic duty.  Or, - move to a dictatorship state and quit yer bitching.

If'n ya don't wanna vote - don't. Though, if you don't, you give up any right to bitch and moan (or rejoice for that matter) about the way the government is run til the next election. If you really oppose voting, you could always move to a place where it's not allowed - then you don't have to worry your lil head over it.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Something to think about when going to the polls (11/4/2008 12:49:51 PM)

In Reality you need to hear the WHOLE SHOW. That part was actually Ironic because the entire show deals with the Stupidity of thinking that YOU DON'T MATTER so the point of the show is if you think you don't matter what the hell remove yourself from the whole process but realize that, that also means you don't have a say. At the end of it it talks about how he likes to stop at traffic accidents and get out of his car because they take money out of his check to pay of those streets and he feels he should have a say.

Truth of the matter is Carlin was a Maverick in the way of the word, he could talk you into anything by telling you why you don't want it or need it.

He will be Missed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yBg7i9iSms  I for one made sure my vote would count as much as possible. I did a mail in ballot.

Good luck to us all.

Gods knows we need it.
