Baffling, annoying, and unpleasant, as well.    There is a local gentleman who has to "ponder" whether he will meet me for coffee, because he doesn't want anything bad to happen, feelings to be hurt, whatever.  OkeyDOKEY.   How do I respond to that, other than to let him ponder on his own time...
I would simply let him ponder, and not be there for him when he wants to chat/chat and chat some more.   I don't tend to want to meet people who are very reserved/afraid or generally not excited about the prospect of meeting me anyway.   M

Exactly, M, he goes into the box with the other men who say they are "available", then wait for me to do all the work, including psychically intuit their schedules so we can meet!

Until you have some sort of relationship or dynamic established you're only as good as your word. Break your word and you are nobody. This is how it is in this community.

I'm quite tolerant and openminded when it comes to meeting people, but this doesn't extend to no shows. However I will accept some explanations:

1. The person was rushed to or admitted to hospital.
2. The person was arrested.
3. The person died or was killed.
4. The person was kidnapped by aliens.
5. An act of God.

Other than that I'd prefer to know before the meeting and as early as possible.

Anything less to me is unacceptable.

I have found (not from my own experience, but that of reliable friends) that the whole "hospital" thing is often a ploy!
