while i am a dom i tend to be on the silly side. drving in the car, out at dinner, just relaxing, i am usually the first to make a joke (or even worse, a pun.)  the truth is i just like have fun and enjoy my self, i love funny and love sharing that with the person i'm with.

Here's a question for you, can a Sir/Master/Owner be too silly?
Does "serious" command more respect?

And if you do have a silly owner, by all means share a little bit of his/her silly side with the rest of us.

Valyaen and I are so silly, all the time. It's just the way we are. We've got a thing about ferrets so I'll be cooking dinner, messing around on the forums, whatever and he'll his head in and go "Dook?", I respond "Dook" and he says "DOOK!".

We quote Invader Zim, Dilbert and other cartoons at each other, run around call each other the weirdest, silliest names we can think of... it doesn't have to make sense. It just has to make us smile.

I don't really like owners to take themselves too seriously. It takes all the joy out of it for me.

I'd be bored with any one, romantic or platonic, who didn't have a sense of humor. As for "too silly" I guess when they neglect situations that obviously call for seriousness. Some people can turn anything into a joke...which can be a downside at times.

Silly is not the word that comes to mind with my Sir, to me it means a total lack of anything useful; but He does have a great sense of humour and can be completely nuts at times!  He makes me laugh til i cry and can't breath... He is barking mad with Oour kids too! There is a time to be serious and i think that because He has this daft side to Him, the serious side of Him means i sit up and take note that bit quicker...

Life was meant to be laughed at and played with, appreciated and lived to the fullest.  A silly Sir, or a daft one, makes living that life even better!

Aww am I the only one who loves silly? For me silly is just... relaxed. Not caring what people think about you and just being yourself. The people that I can be silly around are the people who I know love me for who I am, who I don't feel a need to impress.

i carry a serious demeanor, and am usually more attracted to others who do as well.  however, becoming close to someone leads me to become more comfortable, open, and less self conscious; something that i anticipate on both ends of the relationship.  doing so gives me and whoever i've then become close to plenty of opportunities to be lighthearted and blithely go about doing such things without a second thought that bring laughter to no end, i enjoy that connection as much as the others i get out of a relationship.

but the bottom line is, if you can't loosen up and stop being so serious as to be able to laugh at yourself every once in a while, i'll be happy to do it for you.

I'm really attracted to someone with a sense of humor..a person who enjoys laughing and does it often...so yes, being and feeling free enough to act silly is a good thing...but there does reach a point when i want and expect serious.....what's that saying " a time and place for everything"  if you can't figure that out, then we'd have a problem.......

You should be here on movie night when in between movies Jewel sings the intermission song "Let's go out to the lobby" while Scooter does the dancing hot dog.

I do not think i could respect somebody who was not able to laugh and joke.

Life is much too important to be taken seriously.

I think it's about half past silly, right now.;;-))

I am silly with my malesub and he in turn is silly back. That is one of the many things that attracted us to one another. I could not handle someone who was serious all the time, I find that utterly boring.

Does serious=more respect, no I do not think so. Of course that is going to be different with each person.

I would not say Master is silly. I will say he is a lot of fun and we share the same strange sense of humor.  I remember jokes that i found really funny, when i tell them to Master he will think they are really funny also.  When i tell them to other people the find them a litttle funny.  If anyone is silly it is me, the other day i forgot what i was doing and i said Master am i being silly?  He said yes, but i still love you.  So i can be silly at times Master has a great sense of humor but is not silly.

The answers are "Yes" and "No" respectively.

A person can be silly at the wrong times--that is too silly.  Making jokes at a funeral is generally considered in poor taste (outside of the eulogies, where humor often has a place).

However, levity is an excellent means of radiating a certain calmness and control.  A person with a ready laugh is a person at ease with himself and his situation--and what is more deserving of respect than that?

We switch with each other, and we both love laughter, joking, teasing while engaged in our time together.  I love the fun we have with it. I couldn't imagine it being enjoyable any other way. I quite frankly don't have much respect for anyone that is mean and dour, in any aspect of life. Life to me is to be enjoyed, no one can ever be too silly for me. I love it when she is laughing, smiling, and says to me, "oh, you are soooo going to get it."  Because she means it, and no matter how silly we get, that slap across my balls is serious.

I'm not one who appreciates 'silly'.  Well, only with my kids.  But other than that, I enjoy a more dry sense of humor.  Not that there's anything wrong with silly ... I'm just not attracted to it myself.  Sometimes around 'goofballs' I feel my smile or laughter is forced to go along with the situation, rather than really enjoying their humor.  As for commanding more respect?  Nah - unless you use silliness in inappropriate circumstances, go for it and be yourself.

There is nothing that says a Master or slave or whomever should be something other than themselves. If you run across people who can't handle it, you haven't found the people who are supposed to be in your life.

I value a sense of silly.  I have one and look for it in any person, male or female, dom or sub, that I have any relationship with.

We seem to have stopped it now, but in the past have had whole conversations based on puns. He's in construction so a mention of an electrical problem will cause a half hour of the worst puns imaginable; a shocking experience, totally wired, high voltage, burn out, etc.

I think we've sort of gotten away from it because they got a little too competitive to be totally enjoyable.
