Hell yeah on that GT. I am turning 40  (ugh ) and never want babies so sure I'll take it. My mom had a hysterectomy at 29 so I have no clue. The sooner I can not have periods, the better.  You wait GT, just because I said that now I'll grow a mustache and my voice will change.[:'(]

What's wrong with being 40 anyway?  You can still do all the fun stuff you've been doing your whole life once you learn to ignore the snap, crackle and pop of those arthritic bones [:D]  [sm=dance.gif][sm=weightlift.gif]

DesFIP -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:01:35 PM)

You don't need that invasive a test. Just go by your genetic background and family history. I'm Jewish, that means I'm Mediterranean background. Which means early puberty and late menopause. My grandmother was 58, my mother and older sister 52. I'm almost 54 and have just not had six months without a full period, although I still spot every couple of months for a day.

Since I wasn't planning on having a baby at this age, there would be no reason to test. However if I were Northern European, not hitting puberty until 16 or later, with the good chance of menopause in late 30's then I still wouldn't need a test. I would know by my family history that childbirth should be finished by 35 at very latest.

However for adoptees without any medical/family background I can see this being useful.

LaTigresse -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:02:12 PM)

I've already been through all of that fun so it wouldn't make much sense of me to take a test.

Although the idea that your mother's time frame will be your's, is a falacy. I am sure it does happen often, but it certainly didn't in my case. She was well into her 50's before she began and I was in my early 40's.

I don't mind at all. I am just glad to have it over.

Sure, I would take it. I don't have to worry about pregnancy though.

I have watched a couple of women go through menopause and I know its different for everybody.  That just looks like its miserable as all get out.
I just want to be prepared.

Not very miserable for me at all. The occasional hot flashes were a bit much but if I paid attention to my diet there were almost non existant.

SavageFaerie -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:07:39 PM)

I would'nt take it because my gyn confirmed it for me this past May after 6 years in peri-menopause.  I just thought I was having hot flashes with the peri but oh hell no I am a cooking furnance inside and I will not take hrt. Now that I am official I do still get caught with a womanly surprise which get the OH HELL loudly said.

I think if the test was available before I actually hit it I would try it because the peri part waiting is a right pain in the ass wondering will it be this month...no maybe next month, er next year even.

It is amusing to hear all of the whining about women being in their 40's. They talk like they are old bag ladies.

who's whining?  i still look like i'm 25

LaTigresse -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:31:17 PM)

No shit woman! I was shocked when you gave your age!

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:34:57 PM)

if you think that's amazing, you should see my mother - she turned 60 in Aug and doesn't look a day over 40!  the women on my mother's side of the family grow old gracefully.

LaTigresse -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:45:34 PM)

One of the most beautiful and sexy women I know is in her 60's. And straight annnnnnnnnnd the wife of a local doctor............big sigh.

jesiul -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 12:47:17 PM)

Since all the woman on my mothers side had form of hysterectomy around 30 and I dont know my fathers side of the family at all; there is no way for me to guage when I will menopause. A few months ago I started having hot flashes, then didnt have a cycle for two months but seem to be back on track. It would be interesting to know if I am ending of just peri-menopause.

That's comforting. I think I only hear the horror stories.
For my mom she became really depressed on top of it. She did not begin until she turned 50.  Another one that is going through it, now, becomes evil when she should be having or (maybe she still is having) her period. She is rather violent.

tazzygirl -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 1:26:30 PM)

im 43, and havent even begun to start... regular as clock work still.  my mother didnt start until she was around 55.  seems i have at least a few more years.

still, at my age, i dont feel bad.  just tired, which is more my work schedule than anything else, and lack of sleep.  but, my god, each month, i simply beg... when god?  when?????????????????? when will it stop?!?!?!?!

and, no, im not whining.. .. i want it to stop so i can have more sex!

LaTigresse -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 2:06:38 PM)

Then just hope you don't go through the "I don't give a shit about sex" phase.

Lucylastic -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 2:38:04 PM)

Im so looking for the end. I havent worried about pregnancy since 92. IF they could tell me how long I have to go..Ive been hot flashing and night sweats for ten years, my periods arent getting lighter, they are getting more frequent, IM down to every 23 days.heavy as hell and painful, no loss of interest in sex  but feeling pretty miserable  hormonally.
Sometimes Dnomyar I feel like a bag lady, or is that hag lady. Other times like I could take on the Steeeeelers and the Pens and still have desire and energy left enough to smile and write my memoirs :)

IAMChristine -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 3:30:38 PM)

i wouldn't take it now.  i've already started perimenopause and i'm 42.  the hot flashes started last year, (can you say mood swings?) it's a pain in the ass but it is what it is.  i just hope it doesn't go on for years and years.

windchymes -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 3:50:18 PM)

I'd take it.  I'm 50 now (though my chiropractor guessed my age as 40 today, heh) and have only recently been having some irregularities with the monthly cycle.  I think I had a brief hot flash...a warm flash, really... summer before last.  But that's it.  Since so many women I know started in their 30's and 40's, I'm curious when I am going to start.

Lucylastic -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 3:58:16 PM)

manxcat -> RE: .Menopause Test. (11/5/2008 7:11:19 PM)

Ok here's the deal.  Some start early, some start late, for various reasons.  I started early as i had no kids. I went through 12 years of peri-menopause, and have been finished for 2 years now.  You don't necessarily get all the symptoms all at once.  Your cycle can and will change radically, from every 40-60 days, to every 2 weeks, and aback and forth until you jsut wnat to scream and kill something.  You must go through a full year with no cycle or spotting to be totally finished with the peri part.  after that, is what is termed menopause even though it is finished, don't ask me why they call it pause.  But you can still have hot flashes and mood swings.  I am so glad all that stopped with the cycle.  [:D]  and you can still have all that fun emotional stuff, even if you have a hysterectomy.  Mom was a nightmare after hers.[:D]
Just remember that it is your inner child playing with matches.  And Dom/me's don't be surprised if your sub suddenly becomes very aggressive and unsubly.[:D]  Have patience, there are times when there is no control over actions and reactions.[:D]  Subs get out of the way if your Domme is 'moody', which believe me does not even come close to describing the feelings.  It put my manic depression to shame at times. [:D]
