candystripper -> The Speeches Were Great! (11/5/2008 3:01:35 AM)

Anyone else happen to catch the concession and acceptance speechs yet?

Here's McCain conceding:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bss6lTP8BJ8

And Obama accepting:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrXkBuWNx88

There're both great.  I didn't know till now Obama's grandmother died last night, not knowing he had won. How sad -- and how empathic of McCain to say so, too.

Peace out, peeps.  If you didn't get to see your guy take office,  I hope you're ok.

Anyone else read the thank you email yet?

quote:

Linda --

I'm about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first.

We just made history.

And I don't want you to forget how we did it.

You made history every single day during this campaign -- every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it's time for change.

I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign.

We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I'll be in touch soon about what comes next.

But I want to be very clear about one thing...

All of this happened because of you.

Thank you,

Barack

I am so impressed with this man.  No, HE is the reason he won....but  it is very kind of him to say thank you.

Agreed.

I was also impressed with McCain's speech (if not his unruly supporters), especially his immediate emphasis on going back to serve America as Senator from Arizona and his reference to Obama as "my President."

I was also impressed that President-elect Obama stressed he's looking forward to sitting down with Sen. McCain soon to discuss how they can work together.

They both have class.

Quite so, Tim...but something else as well.  It speaks loudly of each of them being an American first, before being liberal, moderate, conservative, black, white, Democrat, or Republican.  I'm hoping that those who voted for each of them will sieze upon that for themselves.  To simply be an American first, willing to work together for the common good, realizing that there is room in this nation for various viewpoints, and that it is possible to work for the common good with those you don't see eye to eye with.

Give yourself a treat.  Fix your favorite beverage and settle in to watch them on youtube.  It is well worth the time.

...tottaly agree that McCains concession speech was very dignified. However, where was Palin? i didn't see her on stage......

amelliagrace -> RE: The Speeches Were Great! (11/5/2008 9:27:21 AM)

I don't know how you missed her.  She was right there, standing to his right and a bit back, with her husband.  Cindy McCaine was located about the same distance away, on his left.  In fact, he turned to look at her (Palin), when thanking her for her part in the campain.

Last night in Grant Park, the sky opened up, and it feels great.

1 billion people on the planet now shift into positive mindset, from a nonpos minset.

Out time is now!

Musicmystery -> RE: The Speeches Were Great! (11/5/2008 10:01:42 AM)

Yes we can!

I hope that was a tourist and not a zoning lady taking a pic of my Ron Paul sign.    They did not seem to want to talk.  I dont know if I should take down the sign.   I was thinking 30 days, then I could cover it up a few days then uncover it up.  im sorta flatterred if it is not a code person.
