Actually the Florida recount had nothing to do with who won the popular vote. Popular vote is irrelevant in the US nationally. The Florida recount was because neither Bush nor Gore had won the electoral vote (270 needed to win), since Florida was "too close to call", and hence its electoral votes could not be awarded.

Cheese and rice, drop the "socialist" BS already. Newsflashes for ya JB:

1. We've had "restribution of wealth" in the US since 1920. It's called the US Tax Code. When you have a 35% bracket for the wealthy and a 15% tax bracket for the poor, guess what? That's restribution of wealth. By that goofy standard, Reagan, Bush Sr, etc were all "socialists", since they supported the same kind of tax brackets.

3. If you're making less than $200,000, you will see a tax reduction (funded from the expiration of the Bush tax cuts) under Obama's tax plan (and also under McCain's tax plan, although those in the $35K-60K range will get three times the reduction under Obama's plan than under McCain's).

So this whole "hold onto your wallet" BS doesn't hold water (unless you're making over $250,000; see point #2).

Don't you have any better arguments other than repeating the catchphrases you hear on talk radio or FoxNews? Try thinking for yourself for a change, and for FSM's sake do some research before blathering.

The wealthy could invest in tax-free municipal bonds; a number of cities are having trouble finding investors to fund infrastructure projects since the credit crunch.

Record turnouts, and the relection of Lyndsey Graham. At least he will be in the minority this time.
Oh, and the funniest thing was Elizabeth Dole lost her seat.

For me it was that Al Franken may have lost in Minnesota by under 1,000 votes. One of the few sweet spots for me...made all the sweeter by the closeness of the race. There will probably have to be a recount but if the vote holds, Coleman will win. Franken is a nasty person and not having him in Washington for six years at least eliminates one big pain in the ass. He can go on the road and make a fortune as a comedian telling Sarah Palin jokes and probably get a job replacing Keith Olbermann on MSNBC when they take that lunatic away some day.

1. The Obama campaign. Meticulous, well-run, smooth. I might expect to see something like that from a Rep, but not a Dem candidate.

2. Palin. I cannot believe that she was not vetted, and I cannot believe that she was taken seriously for a minute, and continues to command any following.
