Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

You have to admire a nation who can say that.

And now you chosen a leader who, whether you're Republican or Democrat, seems to inspire you with new hope; and that hope has spread out to the wider world too.

I may take the piss out of Americans occasionally; ... er ... most of the time actually ... but there's plenty to respect as well. And we look to you now to bring better times to the world, not just to the US.   Congratulations and good luck.

You must be looking for a public crucifiction with reminding people of that quote on here (Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free).
I agree with the renewed hope for ourselves and the world, and thank you for the congrats.    M

Seconded SD

Hope is one of the most important things in the world, it makes waking up every morning worthwhile, its beautiful to see the joy, excitement and hope springing up everywhere since the election

I agree completely with this.  My grandparents all came here from Europe through Ellis Island in the early 1900's.  There was a difference back then though.  Back then there was a pride.  There was an ethic of hard hard work and an underlying feeling that your life could be anything here, but it was dependent on one thing...you.  I wish that was still the feeling in this country.  It's how I was raised.  Instead, we have become a nation that doesn't reward hard work or even emphasis it.  We emphasis the minimum.  We emphasis getting instead of earning.  I am not talking about big business.  That's a whole other discussion.   I'm talking about individual people and self pride.  I truly think we've lost that as a nation.

Sundowner -> RE: New hope (11/6/2008 8:21:31 AM)

Not a boat leak Raymond, just a stray emotional tear.
