Ariella10 -> Time it takes for training........ (11/6/2008 7:21:55 PM)

Maybe some slaves could give me a little advice please?  How long did it take for your training?  i have heard from some it takes years.  As i am new to all this i have heard all sorts of things, but generally just want to know how long it took, how many times/hours a week, just general knowledge so i know what to look forward to.  Yes, i do realize its an individual thing, but am just curious.  Thank-you for all helpful messages and have a good day.

There is no set course or time for training. It's different from relationship to relationship, and you'll never find the answer tothose types of questions about your relationship on forrums, since every one is diff and every one does things diff.

What kind of training are you referring to?

About a year if I recall right, but my circumstances were a bit different, he knew I was a sub, I just didn't know it yet, so first he had to slowly introduce me to the idea and some of the lifestyle, then he asked if I wanted to be trained to be his. It helped a great deal that he was always consistent and knew exactly what to do to train me.
I have no idea how long it will take the next time.

A full training program to become a master at a skill is usually 15 years.  Students get their masters degrees after being trained in a field of study in the US after generally 12 years of school, four years of undergrad and 3-5 years of graduate work.

How long do you need to be trained to use the toilet?  How long do you need to be trained to think differently?  How long do you need to be trained to be secure in your own skin?

Some things take minutes, some take lifetimes.  Depends on who you are, what you want to change and how you get there.

Perfectly stated.

I would affirm the previous remarks stating there is no possible way to establish a predictable time frame where it relates to training. Sometimes (many times, in fact) the "training" is never made whole due to the inevitable mortality of the relationship.

Autonomic behavior, if one is training under the scrutiny of close supervision and enforced repetition, can appear generally within twenty to thirty days. That is my estimated "stab" at answering this wide open question, from my own experience.

If you are talking about learning a new rule, and have it become internalized so you don't even think about it then it takes a month if the rule is about something done daily or better yet several times daily.

It took a weekend to get it down cold how he likes his tea so I can automatically adjust the amount of the sugar to the size of the cup or mug.

It took six months of meeting once every three weeks to get pretty good, but not perfect, at sitting in the car until he walks around and opens my door. Because of the fact I spend so much time driving without him, I am used to opening my own doors.

For me it's ongoing. Four and a half years as his slave but theres always something new to learn.

this slave is not exactly sure what you mean by "training", but here goes:

this slave didn't need training on how to submit---she had that down pat when we met.

this slave has been instructed/trained by Master for a little over 5 years, the last 4 living together, on a variety of things she hadn't any or had negative previous experiences with that He desires.  some are still ongoing...as in, she hasn't yet reached the goal that Master has set for her with regards to certain things, but she is putting effort into it and is making progress towards the goal.

favesclava -> RE: Time it takes for training........ (11/7/2008 8:54:07 AM)

like the above, i did not need training in being submissive. how to do everyday things for Him took very little time. there many things that i will need training of as they come up. but mostly Master's main complaint was how easy it was to forget i was a new girl because i was so naturally inclined to serve. He does state that my training is ongoing and will never end.
everyone is different, i for one need a lot of training in the poly aspect of our relationship since i never played well with others.

monywildcat -> RE: Time it takes for training........ (11/7/2008 10:10:05 AM)

Hrm, I don't know I haven't "arrived" yet...

For me, the "training" process is indefinite.  Interests, life circumstances and just life in general are constantly changing and evolving, and one must be adaptable to be able to effectively cope and deal with such changes.  I am always learning new things about Daddy, for example he absolutely LOVES cottage cheese, which I rarely keep on hand since I am usually the only one that will touch it.  I will be making sure that I have a small container in the fridge on a fairly regular basis.  While we don't have any sort of formal "training" the learning and growing process is an ongoing one.  And we have known each other forever!

littleone35 -> RE: Time it takes for training........ (11/7/2008 10:17:24 AM)

I was already submissive so he did not have to train me in that.  I would say the basics took about 6 months because i had to be retrained to his standards, but here it is almost  3 years later and i am still learning.  For instance i do not drink Coke it makes me sick.  Master will not drink Pepsi which i love so i make sure i have Coke for him.  Leanring how he likes his coffee took about a week since he likes it black was easy.  Some thngs take more time than others.

I don't 'train' if you mean: 'How long until I was comfortable with my Dom and able to serve his needs/wants without constant direction'. Well that's a different story, and it varies from one relationship to another. I usually enjoy a learning atmosphere so, preferably the 'training' never ends, because I always want to learn more, and do more for my partner.

Well, I could answer philosophically and spout some sort of gibberish about training never really being complete because we're all constantly growing and evolving...

But really, different things took different amounts of time.  Learning to make coffee exactly how my Owner liked it took a few minutes.  Learning other things took a lot longer.

MasterTslave -> RE: Time it takes for training........ (11/7/2008 11:34:50 AM)

Master T has been training me for over a year...and he still has much more training to do!  Master spends 2-3 nights (at least) for 1 1/2-3 hours every time.  I think that you will always be training...it is something that changes over the years.  Master T's wants and needs change with each passing week, when he learns about something he wishes to try or when he feels that I am ready for a new adventure.  Have fun, relax and understand that there is not such thing as a "fully trained slave".

littlemisssnarf -> RE: Time it takes for training........ (11/7/2008 12:12:35 PM)

as some have said for me i need no training in being submissive - tis already within me....

however i have learnt that each Master i have had the joy of serving has had many different quirks that i have "learnt" along the way..... i would like to think that each time a Master and slave grow and learn together.....

Time knows no boundaries - tis the mind that puts them there!
