Intersting development this morn. Not that my question is answered except that it was done by ATF. As I stated I find it hard to believe that with as popular as that song got I never heard of ATF, but it is the only answer right now and it seems my friends are wrong. However I have now downloaded the German version and it is definitely the same song, but in German. Surprisingly it is not as techno as the English version. The Falco version does employ electronic echo and short sustain to the "guitar" part, the English version mixed the percussion quite differently with different components completely panned to one side or the other. Perhaps sometimes Gnutella knows more than Google ? In the search for Falco it found Rock Me Amadeus, which I also remember, but I seem to remember it in English, this is in German. So I changed the search terms and found the same song, supposedly that is because you never know, by a group called Blood Hound Gang. This particular piece is coming very slowly, the others I got in less time than it takes to listen to them. It says it will be here in 44 minutes. It indicates that I am recieving it from only one sender. Some of my best stuff came that way and I have time. I appreciate all the answers, and I'll get back to you on that Dave, I have had to buy a few things here and there, but I'll go into that later. But it seems to me that something is not right. Someone said that version of Der Kommissar came outin 1995. I seem to remember it, yes in English, quite some time before that. I remember 1995 quite vividly because that is the year my house burned down. I am quite sure in my mind that Der Kommissar preceded that event by quite some time. Unless my brain is completely scrambled. Or is it possible that ATF covered it and did not have an album, or at least not right away ? Dave, I do appreciate the offer and might take you up on it, if a way to get anything to me can be found. I can cmail you and give you my email, but for discussion purposes here is just fine, as that is what this place is for. But I think I should explain myself a bit on the nature of my collection. I am not after that much music, what it is, is I am remembering songs from the past because I do not constantly bombard myself with the current noise. As such I have had trouble getting things, most of the time I can't remember who did it, take for example the song Signs by Five Man Electrical Band. Now if you go looking for "signs" it is obvious the results will be overwhelming. It actually took running into someone who remembered who did it for me to get it. There are other examples that are quite similar. There are other scenarios as well, like when not alotof people on P2P have it and it comes slowly and I just can't keep this thing on it for long. I really need to clean out my shared directory and as much as I chomp at the bit for a fight with the RIAA, I am leery about biting off more than I can chew. The way I try to cooperate on P2P is not to share files I got in three seconds from eighty people, I try to share things that were very hard to get, which came slowly from who knows where. In this way I add diversity, and there is no need for me to add to eighty people for a download. But if someone can get some of this obscure material from two or three people instead of just one, I believe that is contributing. If nobody contributes the system does not work. I don't know where you got your stuff at Dave, but with that much I think you probably ripped alot of it yourself. I got a buddy who does that, in fact more than that, someone will call him to get say an import CD that you can't get, and this guy knows how to find them. At a discounted price he burns them an audio CD, copies all the artwork on the insert as well as the CD itself and they get what they want while he builds an incredible collection. Yes this is not quite legal. I think some could hem and haw their way out of it, but I wouldn't do as much of it as he does. One thing going for him is that he is usually doing this with imports. HAHA, I could see them hauling his ass off to Germany, they did it to Ernst Zundel. Really I am not sure how international copyright (the PROPER SPELLING BTW) laws work in such a case. It may boil down to if a US copyright was ever obtained for the work. But he has an ulterior motive. See he is one of the most ultimate DJs you will ever see. On top of an absolutely fantastic collection and sound system he has fog, lasers, all that. He charges quite a bit, but does parties for large companies and such. He no longer carries his CD collection to the gigs. It is on two computers, identical computers loaded identically. They each have three HDs, one os for the OS and programs, one is like A-L and the other M-Z. He has it all categorized electronically, searches are possible. He has this policy that if you are at one of his gigs and you make a request he doesn't have, he will get it. I can also just call him up but he is a busy Man and hard to get ahold of. Sometimes I wonder why he bothered to buy a house. At any rate, the net result is thus. I talked about this with my boss because he knows a DJ as well, so it came up. He said this guy could get in trouble with the copyright people, but what he doesn't realize is that this guy has the original prerecorded media corresponding to just about everything on those computers. IIRC he has the right to a backup copy and I'm sure that his situation would afford him a very good defense. Why would he want to carry all those CDs around, as well as some big speakers, and all this other stuff ? It was getting to the point where it would not all fit in his truck. So the thing is, I don't need a modern record store, err well CD store. They don't have what I want. The only two songs I took any fancy to lately were Nickelback - Rockstar and Blake Shelton - Old Red. To be fair, maybe I should buy those. Even though my musical taste is varied, I am not generally into what comes off the shelf. It took a month to get Glass Bottle - Ain't Got Time Anymore off P2P. I couldn't get anything from the album Stagepass by MSB. I could get a Starz tune here and there but could never get I Pulled The Plug. I had to buy these. My guru the DJ sold them to me, but he screwed on up. I wanted Alex Harvey - Midnight Moses off the Live album, not the studio version. Got that by any chance ? But he got me The Four Foursemen - Rockin' Is My Business. I let this thing search for days and got nothing. Back to Falco, this other version is in by Blood Hound Gang. It is the English version. That splains that. Again it is a bit more techno, but it sounds fine. (nice thing about this P2P program, it always overestimates DL time, if it says an hour you usually have it in fifteen minutes) I can't proof this whole big thing right now, and I ain't makin it any bigger.
