LadyEllen -> funny names (11/8/2008 1:44:04 PM)

Know any names that have comedic value? Post them here - but they have to be real!

I'll start with Whitehouse employee Randy Bumgardner someone whose name will be hilarious for Brits at least

There is a footballer called Kenny Lunt, who plays for Sheffield Wednesday.
Whenever he is playing in a match with commentary they hesitate before saying his name.

I worked with a woman named Anita Hooker (when the guys called her on the radio they always pronounced it Ah Need a Hooker).  She'd come back with, "5 dollar, love you long time)

Working in the medical field, we see a lot of "interesting" names.  The latest is a surname of "Cockshott", no kidding.  Awhile ago there was one named "Fonda Cox".

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but in Arlington National Cemetery, there is a tombstone with the name "Rear Admiral ______ Quackenbush" on it.

For the record, P. Ness & A. Ness's parents should be shot! [:D]

bamabbwsub -> RE: funny names (11/8/2008 5:56:08 PM)

I saw some interesting names when I was a teacher.

There was:

Harry Head, and his sister Penny Head. Their father's name was Richard. (Think about that one for a minute, and it'll come to you.)
Ben Dover
Crissmas Noelle Carroll II (yes, the 2nd...named after her mother, apparently)
ETA: There's a lawyer here in Huntsville named Richard Dick.

Why, oh why, are parents soooooo cruel????

Oh, I know...to make the rest of us laugh. [:D]

If you guys are listing actual full names of people, do you think that's the right thing to do?  Especially the one of a student.  egads.

shivermetimbers -> RE: funny names (11/8/2008 6:14:51 PM)

Well, it was 34 years ago for the student, and she thought it was funny then. And really, if someone doesn't get the humor of how their name sounds, or it bothers them, they would have changed it.

VampiresLair -> RE: funny names (11/8/2008 6:15:29 PM)

My students and customers all know I have told others of their "unique" names and they are alright with it. They have actually been known to tell me things like "at least I am not named..."

solia -> RE: funny names (11/8/2008 6:21:12 PM)

Candy Cane and her sister Honey Bell ... family name withheld

marie2 -> RE: funny names (11/8/2008 6:25:54 PM)

General Reply:

It wasn't an attack at anyone in particular, but it's very easy under this kind of circumstance to list names without realizing that it's not really innocent chit chat. When you name people in full, on the internet, they're no longer anonymous.  It's easy to check the area someone lives in from their cm profile, then look up the name of the "customer", the "patient",  the "student" etc....

I just thought I would put that out there for you guys to consider.
