Doesn't he call himself black?
Are you the one that determines what he is permitted to call himself now?

for Christ sake!  people speak of racism and how it should not exist, then they put labels on themselves and others. they dangle it and say to the world, "look, we now have a black president!"  just like the political party arguement.  both the dems & pubs vote most time the same.  we are all americans not black, white etc.
since i have such a mixed racial background i consider myself an american, not black or white.

You are how old, again? 46, I do believe when you were younger the overall consensus in this country was one drop. You would be considered black.

Today it works like this ...

When you are Black and you are a symbol of grand achievement or beauty, you are not really black ie Tiger Woods, Obama, Halle Berry and ect or you are exceptional; an anomaly ... well maybe if we reach back a bit more we'll find some proof that you aren't really %100 African black.

However, the first time you fuck up ... you black again ...

Gary Dourdan.

I'm just speaking truth. Care to do the same?

Interesting.  My kids are half white American and half Sri Lankan.  Does that make them "all Asian?"

It makes them what they define themselves as. I was specifically addressing her because she continuously brings up the fact that she and Obama are Biracial and how it is for her to fit in between both worlds. This is just the kind of thinking of what I'd like to call the tragic "Sarah Jane" (replaced with the other word I'd rather not use).

Which is really exclusive to biracial blacks in this country and I don't think it's something that's yet fully understood by others. It's way too deep to get into on this thread.

Obama, refers to himself as a black man. That is his choice. If she doesn't want to, that is her choice, but most of her ire when she first addressed me on this thread and elsewhere was directed at  Black people. She stated that blacks were racist against her and that blacks, were rally crying at a show she went to after the election.

Her point was that, Obama's not black he's biracial and we all need to stop talking about color and  I was simply stating that she is 46 and when she was little the general consensus of the white establish and overall white society in this country was, not to distinguish being black and biracial or not.

If you had one parent or a grandparent (and so on) that was of African descent then you were considered black ... period.

You and yours can classify yourself anyway you like.

So, through the fluff.... You can't say how I am wrong, mike?

More hot air from you then? No facts to back yourself up? Same old, same old......
This may surprise you Naga, but I have a son who called me on the phone. He is a student at NYU,and I can never get as much time as I would like to talk to him( not to mention the Giants are playing on tv)now as far as your deficiancys of knowledge,I'm afraid I am disinclined to spend any time filling in the blanks for you. From what I have seen from your post's you have made your mind up,you are happy in your ignorance and when all is done and said who am I to disabuse you of your dearly held misconceptions.
Please though whatever you do ,do not for a minute believe I don't have the facts to back up what I say, having them and sharing them with you though are decidedly different things....bye now.

Well, call yourself whatever you like, but my um's will not refer to themselves as mutts and neither will I refer to them as that. I would not refer to yours as mutts either.

I still find it an asinine reference but to each their own.

I just gotta say... I am so glad that my biracial cousins are not so conflicted about their bloodlines.. kinda like Obama :)

Let me tell ya Greedy,

That's the issue, you hit the nail on the head. People who are secure with who they are don't need to go around proclaiming it every second of the day. I don't need to go around saying, I'm black, I'm black, I'm blaaaaack ... to everyone I meet.

I know what my um's are and they know who they are. They have a mother and father who teaches them about both sides of their heritage. I don't need to constantly proclaim that they are biracial ... they are who they are.

You know, it's like that saying, if you have to scream it too loud ... who are you trying to convince ... others or yourself?

Here is an example of how you are wrong, mike.

And that is simply one reason you can't back up your claims and why I am enjoying roasting you so much.

I really didn't like the term "mutt" as he used it on his way into the plane, but I was using it as he did, meaning "mixed."  Hell, most of us are mixed with something.  One dumbass referred to my kids and my great niece and nephews (who are half black, half white) as "zebra babies," and got an earful from my niece and me.  Mixed is an ok term with me, I don't like mutt or zebra, and bi-racial still sounds weird to me, though I've used it.

I guess the whole race thing kind of makes me shrug my shoulders because I was married to a man from overseas for 13 years, and have been with a black guy for 5, so it just doesn't faze me much.  But I know that this country wasn't always this way.

Regardless, I hope that as Americans, we give our new President a chance to make good on his policies, whatever color he calls himself.  I still call myself "ivory bisque."  (no, Axey, that's NOT like lobster bisque)

unfortunately i do not have the ability to properly express myself here.

what i was trying so hard to express when it comes to PE Obama was that if his race played no factor in why people voted for him, why after he won the election the cries about history being made and finally "black americans" have finally overcome?

i am sorry if my reporting that racism is alive and growing blows your theories or ruins your celebrations.  all of this history making and celebration only infuriates and or encourages the racism.  i have witnessed it.

all i have been saying, is race does not matter!  but when it is celebrated openly there is a precentage of people that will react either positively or negatively.

First off your getting your information from the New York Post explains soooo much.Second the article contained in your link concerns a gaffe made by VP elect Biden, you do understand what a gaffe is,it is a misspoken comment....so how does that prove anything concerning President elect Obama's tax proposal's.Are you allways this off base, are or you just trolling for an argument?
BTW if this is a roasting...someone get me a sweater....you aren't very good at this at all.

oh ok..one more time, i know just as much about Obama as you do.  that is why i did not vote for him!

I'm sorry, there are apparently two bestbaby's on this thread.  The one I was responding to said that her friends were afraid once she told them how Obama will raise taxes.  That other bestbaby also said all her friends make less than $100k a year.  So, if you see her could you please let her know that people making less than that amount will have their taxes cut, like we both seem to know.
