This place screwed up on me twice lately, despite it's normal reliability. If you are in the page where you choose a forum at the bottom there is a thingy (I love those technical terms) that says X users and X guests. It used to add up to like a thousand but if you look at it lately it is a bit higher.

This can't be a bad thing. This has been going on, and it means one of two things, either we are more searchable on the net somehow, or people are actually coming BACK ! Get the idea what this means, it means that less and lees people consider us freaksazoids or whatever, and in the fora might find out that we are people too, if they haven't already gotten the idea.

But if the site becomes inaccesible due to excessive traffic we have gone nowhere.

I'll kick in a twenty, how many members we got ? I mean posting, cmailing members ? I'll put some money where my mouth is. If there are something like 19,000 members, if half of them come up with twenty bucks, that could make this site able to handle just about any amount of traffic. Granted, even if everybody chipped in it would only be $380,000 but that could be used for bandwidth and possibly faster servers, or those with more capacity, or something which increases the capacity without all the bullshit.

Anything but Paypal. I'd send it in cash, even coin, even maybe real money, but I do not use Paypal.

I tried several times to register with them and I am through. I do not keep doing what does not work, and that has effectively gotten me out of eBay as well. I wish I could get someone on the phone because I would tell them "Look, on my credit card I can order nuclear warheads and ICBMs and have them delivered to Libya, you people want me to do all this shit for a thirteen dollar transaction ? Pet's name, secret word all that and read this totally illegible shit on your page ? Are you nuts ?". All my eBay transactions are now paid by postal MO. Some of them don't accept that ! This is like going into a store and having to ask if they take cash. Try that at a car or truck rental place.

But I did not want to get into a rant here. If this site is growing too fast for the PTB here to handle, perhaps a bunch of us should get together and send them a few bucks. If five thousand of us sent them twenty bucks each that would be a hundred grand. I night not know all that much about IT technology, but I think that would pay some big bills. A hundred grand really doesn't go very far these days, but when it comes to something like this, it can. Or do you need that video game or whatever so bad ?

Whathcall think ?

They pay their traffic propably by their ads. For every click on the website a few sends or so.
That is a good system in general. More people more money.
If connection gets bad to the website...people will leave...meaning less income.
So they spent part on the money on new servers.....more people will be able to come..more income.
Donations might indeed help. ( I donate to several forums to keep the ads away)

This website has been slower than molasses in January for me from the first day I joined about a year ago. I usually have to click every link at least twice, sometimes more. I'm not looking for a partner (and wouldn't look here if I was) so paying to visit forums just isn't on my agenda. If it was on my agenda the only payment method I would entertain would be Paypal and I would have to see improvement *before* I ponied up.

Toooo many spiders, why can't they re-phase the traffic lights like Boris Johnson did recently, now they all stay red for 10 seconds so if you are a granny you'd better cross that there road quick lady.

I've not noticed any difference here personally.

Hello Ms GreedyTop nice to see you as always.

Incidentally regarding this thread I was just reminded of some interesting images in print:

Snake eats a bird
Spider eats a bird
