More then half of these threads are lame and worn out.

What happened to all the "deep" thinking introspective threads? i tried writing one, but because it came from me, it pretty much got ignored. (which i actually expected)

Yes, really i agree. A thread about "what is it with women" is DEFINETLY more interesting then

"what does it mean to be mastered?"

Really, you deep thinking, introspective Lifestyler BDSMers, cant ya drag out some more interesting topics?

Riot lol if you remember some people said the same thing to you when you first came on the site and started asking questions.

This is just how it is. After awhile on a site, you rarely see a very new or inspiring topic. It's how I can respond so quickly to most of them- you just drag the essay you've already written a few dozen times, dust it off and personalize it and, viola!

Even meta threads like this...it's a very old and normal pattern for cyber boards. I like it because it DOES constantly force me to re-evaluate my ideas and it lets me feel like I'm still helping people and not being an old fart into her "You darn kids got no respect!" days yet.

And you treasure the few inspiring glimmers that do come along.

I've noticed that the message boards are cyclical. It goes from a wave of soul searching, passionate, yet often inane posts to a barrage of practical questions, to flame wars and touchy subjects, to random tired old questions, with various other topics strewn around and a healthy, yet small dose of wisdom tossed into the mix. Insight can come in many, many forms. Just because a post doesn't seem deep enough for you doesn't mean that it won't surprise you with what it has to offer. (Yeah, I know. Not very often.) And also, just because a post is introspective and seemingly "deep thinking" doesn't mean it is. Often the bullshit is the deepest part of posts like that. After all, deep threads get lame and worn out too.

Now, I'm off to drag out a more interesting topic. I was thinking along the lines of "Bigfoot Shaped Buttplugs...Discuss."

I wish I could think of a deep question or at leaste answer one. I feel as a newbie I'm not sure where I stand on a lot of the deep issues. I have no idea what it is to be mastered or if I even want to be. But I enjoy reading such posts and thinking about them.

Hi RiotGirl,
Sometimes the answers to the posts are better than the question. Don't get discouraged; afterall, it's better than re-runs of Bonanza, right?

*grins and raises her hand, humming the theme song*

Quite an interesting group dynamic, if you think about it.....Master Ben Cartwright and all his subservient boys. More rope than you could ever dream of, spurs, whips, livestock and branding irons. And Hop Sing cookin' up some grub.

Then there was Victoria Barclay over in The Big Valley....now she could mount a horse and crack a whip.

Funny, I just made the same observation to someone here earlier this evening. I bet there's a lot of people reading this board who would like to participate in something other than stuff like that thread posted yesterday that now has close to 200 replies in less than 24 hours. I haven't seen proliferation like that since I saw "The Trouble with Tribbles" episode on the original Star Trek.

i've noticed that i don't even visit the board as often anymore. Partly that's due to working fulltime now instead of staying home but mostly it's because it is always the same issues, which is fine and i understand why they keep coming up...new people coming to the board and others that missed the thread previously. Now i pop in about once a week and scan through the boards and usually pick up something new to think about or consider, sometimes get a good laugh, and occassionally reply. It's easier for me this way, once a week, then hitting it everyday and getting bored with it.

We have not seen the photo of this RiotGirl but isn't it said men came form there and most have been trying to get back there most of their lives and that from what you describe just that this blole is in reverse getting in.

LOL ML Know it alls. You know i got in an arguement the other day with my bro cos i said i WAS always right and he was always wrong. Yet he kept swearing up and down i've been proven wrong before. So this i say. i am ALWAYS right, except when i'm wrong. And i do know it all, except when i dont know. Yer not shallow! i dont talk to shallow ppl! And i WOULD talk to you in IM if i ever saw you on! Ug, but i'm going away for 10 days in 3 days. Double ug. i think i'd rather deal with a big foot butt blug instead. Triple UG and MORE UG. tons of ugs. God save me, god bless me and god help me!!! i'll talk to you when i get back if i havent lost my mind. LOL
