It has taken a year to pass through - but the day arrived!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4540226.stm

Belfast is the first - scotland and england follow just days apart.

Under the new rules, same-sex couples can register their partnership with the council and claim the same rights as a married couple.

I wanted to take a moment to make my own personal dedication to Matthew Roche - who was allowed to marry His partner Christopher Cramp in a civil partnership earlier due to his terminal condition. He died one day after their wedding.
My thoughts are to his partner and husband and I thank them for showing such beauty and for making the world a more wonderful place.

Peace and Love

This news brought tears to mine & my partners eyes. We are hopeful that our own law makers will come to realize just how silly it is to ban marriage between two adults regardless to their gender. I don't see how anyone can claim that a union between two women or two men hurts a union of 1 man & 1 woman.

What hurts is continued hatred to others that differ from ourselves. What hurts is a parent that teaches their child by example & exposure of this hatred so that it spoils yet another generation.

Becca & I have said that we are completely prepared to take our desire to have a full & legally recognized marriage to the highest courts because law makers can't have it both ways. Our case isn't just about same sex marriage... it is far more. Becca was born male. She is originally from Massachusetts, where they have laws that permit same sex civil unions that most of the other 50 states don't recognize. She has changed her gender on her Birth Certificate as part of her transition.

But Florida will not change her gender of male to female on her driver's license until after she has had her SRS. (Though medically she is chemically castrated) Florida has laws that states that they only recognize a person as the gender that they were born regardless of transition, yet they will not issue us a marriage license.

They CAN'T have it both ways!!

Much peace---love knows no gender, no orientation, no shell-- it knows only the touch of one heart to another--

As long as there is a Jerry Falwell, we will have this mentality. i am all for civil unions. i think that every state should recognize the rights we all share as citizens. the "Marriage" they are trying to protect is shallow. What if a man and woman get married and choose not to have children? The hollow argument here is that they are a family and deserving of the tax breaks and insurance coverages of those that choose to raise children. however their situation is no different than a same sex couple.

i feel for you and wish you the best
