Not all jobs which are dangerous are also well-paid.  Back in college I worked in a sandwich shop.  My shift was closing time, so I had to break down the slicer every night and clean it as part  of my duties.

My one girlfriend here was sweeping floors in a steel mill, with molten steel dripping down on her.  She made $16 an hour.

I know I look back on that particluar place of employment with horror.  I don't know too many butchers with all their parts.

One of my girlfriends here is an R.N., and is constantly getting battered by patients with dementia, etc.  While nurses make a living wage, it is extremely hard work.

Would you -- do you -- risk disfigurement or injury at work?
