My impression is that Great Britain is about the size of New York State.  (Please don't fault me for me geography skills, lol.)  So, like, do you guys all know each other in real life?  Must be wonderful.

get real, there aren't too many countries where you know even a fraction of the people in the building you live in much less your neighbourhood, much less the sly and secretive species of folks known as kinksters

always pisses me off....

"oh, australia is so LITTLE, do you know so and so? s/he lives in queensland, you MUST know him/her!"

*btw, geography lesson: australia is roughly the same size as the US*

When I was working at a Detox Unit, I was admitting a woman from Oslo, Norway.  I told her my Grandfather was from there & she asked his name.  I told her & she told me that he wasn't really from Oslo, but from a farm outside Oslo.  I was surprised that she knew the name & the farm & asked her how she knew them.  Turns out that instead of the farmers bringing the produce into Oslo, the people would take the train to the farm to buy.  I thought it was kinda like, "Oh, you're from NYC??  Do you know John Smith???"

the 'do you all know each other' thing...

I mean, really... what kind of dumbass question is that?

Should it be assumed that everyone in Rhode Island knows each other? After all, it's smaller than the UK...

If not , we sometimes rely on our tribal instincts and this can have very positive results.

What the eff? "Great Britain" is one of the most populated islands on earth, with sixty MILLION people living on it. Are you taking the piss or something  ?

I live in London, where about 25% of the population of the UK lives. We don't just know each other, we even have intimate relationships with each other.

Indeed, that is why we have the rush hour. Every morning and every evening during the week people rush to public transport just so they can be close to other people. We know that the tubes are frequent, but we just can't wait to get into the train where we can get right close to everyone, perhaps feel a few bodies up on the way, or perhaps a quick snog on the way to the office. This is why we try and get anything up to a thousand people into every carriage.

Why do you think so many people who don't live in London travel to London for work? For no other reason than the intimacy. And they don't even wait until they reach London either. Lots of them pack themselves onto trains just so that they can be close and intimate with each other, then when they reach London as quick as they can they dash off to the nearest Underground station for more intimacy and closeness on the Tube, hoping to get another quick snog in before they arrive for work all aroused, excited and feeling very much alive.

Why do you think lots of secretaries have babies and have to go off on maternity leave? Have you any idea of just how many Londoners were conceived on the Piccadilly Line alone?
