Dear Mr. President-elect;

          Firstly; congratulations, sir on your winning campaign to convince the majority of Americans who voted that you were the better man to lead our country for the next four years.

          Sir, I wrote a similar open letter to President Bush, four years ago. That letter went un-heeded.

          President-elect Obama, I read your website, listened to your speeches, watched the debates and read everything I could find about you. You must have run for the office of president of a different country than the one in which I live because most of what you say leaves me scratching my head. I disagree with you on just about every issue.

          I don’t think I’ll be going point-by-point (as I am going to try to keep this brief) but, you arbitrarily chose a number of $250,000 as the “mean water mark” for your tax plan. You do realize that there are areas in this country where making that amount of money has them looking for second jobs? Mostly urban areas but New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Denver come to mind, off the top of my head. Unfortunately, sir, this makes your number a bit skewed. Maybe you should factor in a cost-of-living allotment? Better yet, if you’re interested, I could submit my proposal for a consumption tax which would be an ENTIRELY fair system under which people would really have no complaint.

          I think, sir, that your stance on taxes is based in your socialist political leanings. Why should my children NOT benefit from my hard work, if that is my dying wish (Inheritance tax)? Why should I be willing to “share” more of my hard-earned money with people who can’t be bothered to get up off their lazy behinds and earn a living? I am speaking to you, sir, as someone who is woefully under-employed.

          Charity is, indeed a good and moral thing but, you cannot legislate morality! We can educate (note the word, please. I didn’t say “indoctrinate” or “brainwash”) people as to the necessity to give to others less fortunate but, that idea coming from an entity (The United States government) that has been working to become the de-facto father to all of our children for 40 years, hardly passes the giggle test.

          Another reason I believe we grew up in different countries (and you’re not that much older than I, sir) is because; in my country, I’ve been told all my life that I cannot judge people based upon the color of their skin yet, my country seems to be okay with my being labeled a “racist” because of the color of mine (You see, it’s unfortunate but, I have some bad blood in my family and as a result, I do appear to be white). I have heard “Of course you’re racist. You’re white, ain’t you?” more times than I can count. And, most recently, it seems that I am a racist because I disagree with your plan for this country. The idea is ludicrous.

          Mr. President-elect racism, in this country, is VERY much a two-way street and I am tired of it not being perceived that way. I ask for your help on this issue, also.

          Finally, Mr. President-elect; some of your supporters have told me that you intend to reverse all of the damage done to our civil liberties by the ill-named PATRIOT ACT. As I said, earlier; I believe that your leanings are socialist and it has never been my understanding of socialism that it promotes freedom of the populace but, just in case I’m wrong, if you were to, indeed, use your power of executive order to reverse this travesty, I will offer my services to you for your re-election campaign.

          I don’t envy you your job but, I remind you: you wanted it. Now, may God bless and keep you as you try to do your best to keep the promises that your message of hope seems to have inspired.

                                 Peace and comfort,

                                                              Michael P. Xxxxxxx

Don't keep scratching your head, you will only have more sawdust to sweep up.
I wondered when you would have the brass balls to air your patent racism.
Enjoy the next 4 years.

Dear Micheal P. xxxxxxx;

You can have the job. In my recent briefings I have found out who really runs the world. I will get done whatever I can, but understand that these people have so much money they could buy and sell Bill Gates with pocket change. They have an immense grasp of and on most major economies of the world.

I have learned Sir that there are many things I want to do but will not be able to do. The supposed prosperity of the last couple of decades has been a falsity, all the money was borrowed. This ecomony has been run like a Ponzi scheme since before I was born. Having been a senator I will take some of the blame, but not all.

So as much as I regret to inform you that in this case what you see is not what you get, I can make only one promise. I wll not stick my head in the sand so to speak when it comes to the good of the American People like my predecessor.

However I have found that the President is only one Man, and the major power conferred to me is the power to sign or not sign things, somewhat like a prisoner of war. I'll do my best, but don't expect miracles. Sorry to ruin your day.

Madax you seem to have gotten in edgewise. Perhaps you can point out what was racist in the OP because I did not see it. Racism is a two way street, and if you live in the city like I do you see it every day. "Whitely is out to screw me", "Whitey is out to get me". It's a shame some think that way, but they do. I see the attitude on a regular basis and really considering history I don't blame them a bit. Actually in case you hadn't noticed, Whitey is out to screw Whitey as well.

I think an explanation of your comment is in order.

BRAVO termyn8tor and Madaxeman! Beautifully said. I hope Satyr6406 will re-examine himself and perhaps reconsider his word as well as his cynical and superior attitude. I believe those who are so convinced that Obama is a "socialist are about as informed as those who believe he is a Muslim. I did vote for Obama-I mean, what could possibly motivate ANYONE to support the 2008 version of McCain? The 2000 version of McCain would likely have gotten my vote, but when he morphed into Bushit, that settled the matter for me!

If one examines the methodical way in which he is conducting himself and choosing the members of his cabinet and the respect he has shown to the current President, I believe it is quite possible that Obama can become the GREATEST president of My lifetime.

Let us ALL pray that he will do so.

Term;

      I didn't read the post but, it is as I have said elsewhere: ANYONE who doesn't fall into lock-step is a racist. My post also mentioned that I'm not white but, I guess that went over the person's head.

      I'm getting used to being called a racist. It's an easy accusation to throw around and seems to have become part of the whole P.C. movement. I ignore it (and the people that use it) on a daily basis. While I no longer live IN a major city, I was raised in one and live fairly close to there, still. Water off a duck's back.

Or you could do the research on what socialism is.  Wiki is a common easy place to start.

quote:

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1]

Obama believes this.

quote:

Socialism is not a discrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and program; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalization, sometimes opposing each other.

And fits this bill.

quote:

Some socialists advocate complete nationalization of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; while others advocate state control of capital within the framework of a market economy.

Obama is the latter.

quote:

Social democrats propose selective nationalization of key national industries in mixed economies combined with tax-funded welfare programs; Libertarian socialism (which includes Socialist Anarchism and Libertarian Marxism) rejects state control and ownership of the economy altogether and advocates direct collective ownership of the means of production via co-operative workers' councils and workplace democracy

He's the former.

So on listed definitions, Obama is four out of four.  Should you wish to move past socialism and into Marxist Communism, I personally think he fulfills 7 of 10 planks if you grade liberally.

The amusing part is if Obama had been running for an office in some country in Europe, he could have just been upfront and said "I'm a socialist", and noone would care.

Someone on CM called me a racist when I posted that I was happy a black guy broke through the barrier of white presidency.
I would have been just as pleased if it had been a female that won.

I believe those who are so convinced that Obama is a "socialist" are about as informed as those who believe he is a Muslim.

It is indeed a tossup as to which group is more willfully ignorant.

Of course, many are proud foolish members of both groups.

You should read above - it really is quite easy to demonstrate with factual definitions that Obama is socialist.  (Yes, the Muslim part is ignorance, but research what "Socialism" is before claiming others "willfully ignorant"...Obama fits the word perfectly.)

Oh do enlighten me with these factual definitions.  And which of Obama's policies or statements fit them.

Start by reading above.  Then follow by reading Obama's tax plan.  You'll be well on your way to enlightenment.

You demostrated this huh?

The only thing I saw you do was take someone else's definitions of socialism and say yep, Obama fits that.  Yep, that one too.  Oh yeah, he definitely fits that one perfectly.

Very persuasive!

Ironic you should chime in with such nonsense in a thread in which I've already posted the factual definitions, if you'd read above.

If enlightenment is what you seem to be getting from this Professor you keep referencing....no thanks I shall continue to muddle along ,rejecting false prophets and mentors as I go.Critical thinking is a prerequisite to true enlightenment....you would do well to apply same to this man's dogma.
