pandoravampire -> fetish clothes patterns (12/20/2005 5:17:38 AM)

Im rather tall, rather skint, and have absolutely 'nothing to wear' head on.

Im sick of paying the bdsm dollar for pvc or latex clothing. Does anyone have a link, or info on where to get patterns for clothing?

grateful for help

pandora,
Try searching Ebay or other auction sites. Sometimes I have found great deals on fetish clothing. I search using bondage, or fetish items. Once you find a seller, they sometimes have a store on there or a website.

Good luck

unless you've had experience working with leathers or plasticwear your end results likely are not going to be up to par with what you would be buying off a professional. I'd recommend finding a local specialist, may want to toss out a few lines to the local leathermen groups and ask where they buy their from and they'll be sure to point you in the right direction of someone who can custom fit and design pieces for you.

In addition to what AFMVDP says I think you will find that you need a professional grade sewing machine to work with that leather. I don't know about the vinyl but I have heard that the needles 'stick' in it and it's hard to sew.

Lerners has clothes listed as being "tall" in their catalogs...although I don't know how tall you are, they have a great pair of leather pants for only $49 (not thick like most leather pants, but more for fashion AND comfort, from petite to tall). They have a nice line of leather pants, skirts, jackets, tops, etc. Boots are pretty nice too, and the prices, with coupons are very low compared to "fetish" advertised items on online sites. Their addy is lernerscatalog. You can find online coupons, by searching their name too.

As for patterns, I tend to use different materials, on regular patterns to spice up an outfit. Sometimes, you can use "costume patterns" and either use them directly, or piece them together with other patterns. Another suggestion may be to look up "vintage patterns." Old styles can be converted nicely too.

I don't know about patterns... I never can manage to sew using them, but I sew "alternative" clothing regularly, and have found that pvc is a pain in the ass to work with. It took me awhile, but after some experimenting, I found that putting wax paper both on top of and underneath of the pvc fabric makes it much easier to work with, and the wax paper can tear right off when you're through.

There are specific leather work sewing machine needles. If your local sewing shop doesnt have them cuz they are not highly in demand, they can certainly order them in for you.
