An interesting read from the Christian Science Monitor.

Somehow I don't think the Atheists and Discordians are going to get seats at this conference.

Why would they want a seat, thney don't have a faith.

No atheism isn't a faith, or at least I have found, atheism is what religious people call people who don't have a faith because they want to impose a faith on everyone.

Don't atheists have beliefs about why the universe spins the way it does?

If you classify "liberalism" as practiced by some segments of the American left as "religious" belief (which I do) it all starts to make sense now ...

The practice of shutting down opposing viewpoints was given a test run by the Obama campaign.  Sounds like they are already on board with the UN.

No, they have theories which are open to change should someone produce a more compelling theory or evidence.

America doesn't have a left and the UN debate is about religions co-existing, since rationalist don't tend to consider religion as rational, the UN debate is irrelevent to anyone who doesn't have a faith which means it is most rational to Bush, McCain and co and all those nutty rpeople who believe in a stone age tribal god as being the creator of the universe.

I have never known an unbeliever to cling to agnosticism when the shit hits the fan.
When your frightened, or up against it, you find God and He finds You.
Denying it just means you haven't suffered enough to admit it.

I have seen it raining tree stumps because some asshole in artillery had a little trouble with map coordinates...I cursed all artillerymen...I cursed their mothers who gave birth to them...I cursed my self for being foolish enough to enlist...but I will tell you right now what I did not do was pray...for you to suggest that you know what is in someone Else's mind is more than a little presumptuous.

Philosophy I am truly sorry as well. My condolences. I am also sorry you had to respond to such an asinine statement as well with repsect to such a heartbreaking and personal matter.

Tweedydaddy,

What a pompous ass statement to make. I am an atheist as well, and in almost 40 years you think I havent suffered?  Typical "Christian" attitude. They don't call it holier than thou for nothing.
