New Harry Potter Trailer: Half-blood Prince Preview

It's pretty cool for Harry Potter fans who now have to wait 8 bloody months when we were supposed to get the new film next week. Ah well. Enjoy!

Now that's interesting...this is the third trailer I've seen (the teaser that focused mostly on Voldemort, and little on Harry, and the 'international' version that shared a few scenes with this one)...

and IIRC the teaser did not have the smoky/swirly efx in front of the orphanage.

Which is odd, because I could have sworn I read all the efx were in the can a few months ago, since they were planning on a Nov 21 premiere.

Did they decide to do some more efx?  Or is my memory faulty (impossible, I say!)

Or is my memory faulty? [:-]

It certainly looks better than the previous film. I might even consider watching it.

I hope they don't cut out the scene with the muggle prime minister! Should be fun if they could get Tony Blair to do it [8D]

And I suspect the final scene... the "sad event" following the "horrifying event" would not be very good. They will probably cut it too much.

After my reaction to the fact that the Harry Potter movie release was being delayed, my husband says he is afraid of what I am going to do if we find out his deployment has been extended...

Of course.. he's only been gone two months... it's been over a year since the last Harry Potter movie or book...........

Yay! I didn't even know this was out yet. That is seriously way too long to wait for it when it's already finished! Producers are sadists.....*pouty face*

Haven't they already cut it into two films? Or is that the plan for the last book? I forgot.

It's not the producers, it's the Warner Bros studio execs.  When they saw what a huge hit The Dark Knight was, they didn't want 2009 to be such a decline in revenues (since their investors are apparently incapable of comprehending that Dark Knight and Potter were anomalies).

So they moved it to 2009 so they could report two boffo years in a row.

Book 7.  Too many loose ends resolved in Deathly Hallows to trim much out of the script.  Can't, for example, cut the number of horcruxes from 7 to 5, or the number of Hallows from 3 to 2.

Whereas book 6 (Half-Blood Prince) has a few subplots that can be streamlined or omitted.

I read in the paper that the Warner Brothers execs weren't happy that Daniel Radcliffe was on Broadway in a play where he is nude. That is why they decided to delay the film to next year.

Anybody else hear otherwise?  I can't wait to see the movie but i wish they hadn't delayed it.

That's pretty ridiculous.  Warner Bros delaying a movie's worldwide opening because their star opened in a play months ago, a play that is getting next to zero attention in the media, and is playing in only one city?

Yeah, I heard otherwise, in more than one media source.  Re-read my post.  Hollywood is all about $$.

And also $$.

Oh wait, I forgot, they also care about $$.

They couldn't give a rat's ass about their star appearing nude in a Broadway play, as long as tens of millions go to see it.  Which they will, play or no play.

Can't wait can't wait!!! Have my Nymphadora tonks costume ready!!! I too, threw a big fit when they moved the release date back. But at least I still have Twilight this weekend.

Because I am a dork...

I gotta make some friends...

Phoenixpower -> RE: New Harry Potter Trailer: Half-blood Prince (11/16/2008 11:27:19 AM)

I didn't realise that the release date was changed until last week when I decided to have a look online when the movie starts at our cinema as at some point I remembered that it was originally meant to start this november....but being busy with uni and work again 7 days a week since september it didn't affect me much yet as I am not really in harry potter mood anyway at the moment, so for me its ok that it starts later, even when it would have been nice to be released yet...before I moved to england I would have gone balistik if it would have get changed...but now, strangely it doesn't matter much to me right now.

thishereboi -> RE: New Harry Potter Trailer: Half-blood Prince (11/16/2008 1:16:50 PM)

Don't forget that he played in the same play over in England years ago. They didn't care then, why would they now.

To Bita...thanks for the links, I am ticked that they postponed it, but not enough to not want to see it.

ps, Cagey, there were 6 horcruxes, not 7. The 7th piece of his soul was still in his body.

Cagey18 -> RE: New Harry Potter Trailer: Half-blood Prince (11/16/2008 5:11:16 PM)

Except that Harry was an inadvertent 7th horcrux (or 8th 'piece', if you will).  Hence the need for Harry to die before Voldemort could be destroyed.
