The Mormon Church is ironically, one of the main supporters of Prop 8. The vote was a narrow 52 to 48 percentage. The County of Los Angeles, Santa Clara County and the cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles have joined in a law-suit contesting Prop 8. http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/california/la-me-gaylegal6-2008nov06,0,5471913.story

Butch I absolutly agree with you, in general I feel the majority is hardly ever right, which is why the quote never underestemate the power of stupid people in large groups is so popular. I meant I agree with his reasoning about obama, and that it would be pointless to protest against that decision and that people seem to only accept the choice of the voters if they agree with it.. I am strongly against Prop 8 and I believe love knows no race or gender. I still can't imagine how it is that Cali voted to elect obama, but ban gay marriage. I am large supporter of equal GLaTG rights. I do believe that we should rise up as a nation and fight to stop this discrimination. Not just for Cali but for everywhere. Several other states also voted against same sex marriages on Nov. 4, and I believe each and every one of them was a mistake. Also, if you read Texas Law, several of my loves and like are, in fact, against the law where I live. And they would have gotten me dishonorably discharged from the military also. And I am very vocal about how silly I think those laws are.[:D] Good point though, and thank you for pointing out that I needed to clarify what I was commenting on.

I dont know why people dont think on this. All one has to do- is -of 1000 benefits- cut 1,2 or 3 of them that gays would not care about- and then call it a civil union. this is about contract law- and seeing how money is going- which is a contract- it has no value other then the contracual outcome of using it. People should be protesting the extreem looting of the treasury. Protesing hedge funds which are nothing more the cosinos, but with YOUR money. But more then that- since no one goes to jail- the bussinesses and people that did everything right and everything they were supposed to do- now must carry the broken ass of those who gambled in demented folly. so that is most unfair to the real producers of our world. Again no one goes to jail but gets rewarded. To big to fail is mute since banks gobble up other banks on YOUR dime- which does not make those banks smaller...so yet another argument that is pure BULL. The neighbor says our nation is immoral and god is in control of the hard times that are coming. arghhhhhhhhhhhh. smash you TV before it kills you!

No offense to those protesting but shouldn't such energy and time been better spent before the vote? Maybe these people should get into the lower ranks of political parties and start working their way up to attempt to affect changes. As some of them are doing, maybe they should let their money talk and only buy from businesses who support their own beliefs -- some groups do this all ready. Maybe some of these people should just keep going to the court houses and asking to get married and then take things to court repeatedly. Those are all actions that might affect some changes. I have yet to see strong evidence that mass protesting in the streets does much other than call immediate attention to things. You have to move beyond that. All change takes time, sometimes it takes decades.
