I never had much luck trying to kink out vanilla relationships from the perspective of a submissive which I am, it the other person doesn't feel it themselves they are just doing it to make you happy, it doesn't work out. Though in my vanilla days I would occassionally "take charge" sexually and learned a lot that way. One thing other than sexually, though I did sort of covertly practice my service submission on vanilla partners, cooking him dinner, serving him, rubbing his feet or bathing him when we would shower together. In my head I was being a good little submissive, even if he didn't know or notice... I think that helped honed a lot of the way I approach the non-sexual side of submission.
