Anyway, I L-O-V-E fantasy and sci-fi! (Fantasy especially). I write it, I read it, I devour it. Some of my favorite authors are Roger Zelazny, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Mercedes Lackey, Anne Bishop, David Eddings, Neil Gaiman, Michael Stackpole and Fred Saberhagen among many, many others. I love it!

Oh, and by the way, Zelazny is the best. Ever. Period. Four pages of posts and not even a mention. Who else could write a story of three pages and have it plumb the depths of beauty, comedy and insight all at once? It only takes a paragraph to fall in love with the man.

He is one of the many I hadn't seen mentioned yet that I truly enjoy. I loved the Amber series. I also enjoyed his Madwand books & The Delvish he Danmed books. Amber was a truly unique concept I enjoyed. Corwin rocks!

Dune is my all time favorite science fiction novel. Closely followed by _Starship Troopers_ and _Enders Game_. I enjoy the prequel novels to by his son to.

I BET no one has heard of Robert Holdstock. A british fantasy author.

You know when you read a book and it fills a gap in your soul? When dreams suddenly make sense? When you want to cry at the end simply because you have been ejected from their world?

That is a book that lives with you. That you never forget.

I am such a sci-fi and fantasy geek- have been ever since I devoured my first Asimov book when I was seven- which was, by the way, the collection of short stories "Through a Glass, Clearly". I then proceeded to read everything he's ever written, after which I entered into a deep depression, before discovering Raymond E Feist, Roger Zelazny, Anne McCaffrey, and Arthur C Clarke, and bounced right back out of it.
These days, however, my absolute favourites have to be the incredible Neil Gaiman, and Dan Simmons- who I honestly have trouble believing nobody has mentioned yet! His Hyperion Cantos is breathtaking, as is Ilium. I'm halfway through Olympos, the sequel to Ilium, so I'll give a verdict on that when I finish reading it. He is, however, one of the best authors I've been lucky enough to come across, who combines a wonderfully detailed and flowing writing style with truly excellent characters, fantastically realised worlds, and plot twists that'll blow your mind. A bit like Neil Gaiman that way, then.
Of course, I also love Terry Pratchett- but who doesn't? And Joss Whedon makes some of the only series that I can be bothered turning on the TV to watch, especially Firefly/Serenity.

I have read some Dan Simmions horror novels. I really liked _ Summer of Night_ and I have been meaning to check out his science fiction works.

I loved On a Pale Horse. It's my favorite of all the Incarnations. I wasn't as moved by the others though. Any David Brin fans? (I seem to recall someone mentioning him). I have a hard time staying interested, but once I'm done, I end up loving the story.

On the fantasy side of things, I'm surprised nobody mentiond R. A. Salvatore. The man who single handedly made Dark Elves cool. He does Sci-Fi too, although there he gets the blame for being the guy to kill Chewbacca...

The Drow were always cool. You have to love a female Dominant society of whip weilding priestesses. The Drizzt novels are good. Particularly the Dark Elf trilogy.
