That's the headline in Yahoo finance.
I thought they were already in reccession?
Well, it was looking to be a rough week in the markets anyway, this certainly isn't going to help matters.

I wonder how low the market can go?
Someone said it won't go below 7000, I am thinking 5000 is more likely.

Popeye, recession is defined as two quarters of negative growth.  Their economy shrank last quarter and it was expected to shrink again but they only officially call it after the full six months have elapsed.  Bean counters like rules.

Question of the day?
By defintion a Depression, is a very long recession.

When will we officially be in a Depression?
This time next year, perhaps?

Too many export orientated economies rely on American consumption, now Americans have stopped consuming because they haven't got any money, those economies are going to suffer.

I remember one time someone was saying that the market would never hit 1200.  I like how most of  the other countries love to America bash but now there great economies are tanking.

The two big export economies, Japan and Germany, their citizens tend to be big savers rather than big spenders so they will probably have enough fat to get through the winter so to speak and I'm sure they'll be philosophical about it. They knew Americans were spending money (mainly) borrowed from the Chinese and sooner or later the party would have to stop. Those two economies tend to adapt better than others but they're going to have to look for other export markets, at least for a while.

Meat, I think that's it in a nutshell.
Mia, I was thinking that this market wouldn't crack 7,000 on the Dow but who knows now?
