I suggest redoing this experiment. Give a loaded firearm to someone with known anger management and alcohol issues along with a supply of alcohol and interaction with others of the same ilk and then see what happens.

I.....can't....stop....myself...from responding to this.  I tried!!  Lord knows I tried!  Wrestled myself to the floor & put a choke hold on myself, but I broke the hold & am back at the keyboard.

So, would you advocate that nobody be allowed to have firearms because of the actions of an aberrant few who would do damage whether they had firearms or not???

Just pointing out some scientific flaws in his experiment and that if he redid it with the changes I suggested, the outcome would have been highly different.

I actually am a proponent of the Switzerland form of gun possession. There it is required that there be a rifle in each household, with the householder trained in its usage, and it is brought to the police for inspection yearly the way we get cars inspected. They also mandate keeping them in locked cabinets when not in use.

With that said, I see no reason for people to possess submachine guns privately. You aren't allowed to hunt with them.

And speaking of hunting, can anyone understand the reasoning behind having deer season here have rifle season prior to black powder? Here it goes; bow, rifle, black powder, then another bow. Nobody I know has ever gotten anything during the second bow season.

Thanks for the explanation.  It makes a lot more sense now.  I love  this discussion, particularly since nobody has become a growling, fist-beating weirdo.  I hate those kinds of discussions about anything.  I think that the only reason that people yell to get their point across is because they know deep down that they really have no valid point.

I loved the original post!!!  Funny as hell and very true.  Guns don't kill people...people kill people.

BTW, I reduced the water moccasin population by one this afternoon.  Yay for gun control...steady hands and a .22!  I did not, however, feel the urge to point or fire my .22 at another person, either.  My lil' .22 is a good pistol.  It behaves itself.

On a seperate note, a bobcat is not the same as a cougar.  A bobcat is the cousin to the lynx.  A cougar is another name for a mountain lion.  Either way, bobcats can wreak havoc on small farm animals.

Bobcat sightings here are very rare. Mountain lions are very shy creatures, I've seen them maybe three times in the past twenty years I've been here.

But last night I went to pull into my driveway and had to wait until a red fox which was sitting there grooming itself finished and moseyed off. There are gray around also but they're much shyer.

Oh and Linnea, sometimes people yell because they just want to win no matter what, but other times it's because they aren't being truly listened to. It's rough being ignored or overlooked.

Ahhhh thanks for clearing that up, I knew that the cougar was known by another name though just couldn't recall for what  lol. Just like a mink and ermine are the same animal and an Elk and Wapiti are the same critter!.  Ok, I return you the regularly scheduled topic!

I would lurve to one day be a cougar.....

Where I'm from people have been known to fill water pistols with bleach. An object which had it been used as it should be suposed to, would not have caused harm. I dunno if this in any way equates to the guns and whatnots as I know nothing about them.

Ok now I'm going to aim to be a bobcat, because I like chasing ducks and I've mocked a few piglets in my time.

You guys would go apeshit on my property!  Best friend & I have 120 acres, 1/2 in hardwood.  Have >100 head of deer on the property, rabbits coming outta my ass, and the occasional panther, cougar, bobcat, blackbear, armadillo, coyote, alligator, peccary & feral dogs ... and all the snakes & small critters that fit into a stew pot.  My challenge is going to be safely raising a handful of cows & Kikos, as well as Muscovies & Guinea Fowl ... along w/ my organic garden & orchard :-)  Already have 10 acres in electric fencing ... just need to cross-fence a few more lots so I can rotate pasture & have a whack at keeping the predators on the other side of the fence.  Have my deer stand facing where the treeline turns into grassland.  All the relatives ... and relatives of relatives, and their friends want to come down & haul home a freezer full.

And ... with all those trees ... such a great place to suspend a sub :-)

As for trying the experiment with a creature with a weaker mind, I was unable to locate your cliche blonde, you know the type, uses white out on a Computer Screen......

As for hunting bobcats and coyotes.... when said varments are attacking goats and other livestock, then they are free targets.

Now, for sub or slave hunting I use a net launcher, fired from a WW2 Halftrack.

And for the record, I am a yellow dog democrat, meaning I would rather vote for a yellow dog than a republican.

Not all democrats are in favor of radical gun control, most of us are in favor of reasonable gun control, meaning you do not need a fully automatic AK47 to hunt bambi with.... (Please note, Bambi and his mama are rather tasty when properly cooked, and healthier than some of what you buy in the supermarkets)

As far as handguns go, I (being from west texas) feel that we should be allowed to carry them openly, so that everyone knows we have one (unloaded, so before you can go nuts with your pistol due to road rage, you have to load the thing....)

I am also in favor of those of us who drive sensibly, have never had an accident in our life, or who was hit by another car, should be allowed to purchase and drive Armored Vehicles on the roads, complete with twin 20mm Vulcan cannons or twin 7.7 miniguns  to deal with idiots on the road ways (granted the vulcan has a slower rate of fire, but does more damag, the miniguns fire 4000 rounds a minute and make a really neat sound, kinda like a airwrench on steroids.)

And finally, I would actually love it if I could legally own a modern Airdefense system, consisting of the 20mm cannons, SAMs and radar.... Not for use against aircraft, but that jolly fat man in the red suit who has neglected to bring me what I have asked for repeatedly..... the last 36 playboy playmates, a fully furnished dungeon, and an assorted collection of restraints to use on the lovely gals.........
