So how many electronic gadgets do you tote around with you all day?  Do you still have a landline phone in addition to a cell phone? Are your thumbs numb from texting?

The top 5 gadgets knocked down or killed by the cell phone include: the PDA, the camera, the UMPC, the phone and the MP3 Player.

My cell phone could NEVER replace my camera!!

We still have a land line that goes virtually unused at the farm.

I never had a PDA or MP3 player and have no idea what the heck a UMPC is!!

I also don't carry the phone around with me. It either sits in my purse, or on my desk here at work or on the counter at home. The only time I take it outside is if I am expecting a really important phone call or doing something dangerous by myself.

Well maybe I am wierd, but none. I don't have nor want a cellphone, PDA, ipod or anything of the sort. I have been considering a decent laptop and wireless network for it, to use at least part of the time at work.

I like not having a cellphone. When I am not home dammit I am not home. Let's just hope the vehicles keep running. If not I may reconsider, but I don't need alot of minutes, or for it even to accept incoming calls.

A few years ago I saw a billboard on I-90 with an advertisement for the "teen plan" which was 43,000 minutes a month. On average there are roughly 43,200 minutes in a month. I guess the other 200 minutes were to charge the battery. Might cause a problem in February though ........

I need and rely on my phone. I know people can be very anti-phone nowadays, but carrying one with me has saved my bum on more than one occasion. Safety, for work, for being a woman travelling round a big bad city.....

But then I cant see it replacing my iPod just yet. Thats got 80GB, it plays tv programs and films, games, and podcasts. My phone has up to 2GB (when I buy a new memory card to replace the crappy one that came with it. And this is a brand new, fairly expensive phone! It has a wee little camera but its pretty pants. Would never replace even my bog-standard digital camera, although its useful for baby snaps when I dont have camera with me.

Perhaps the phones available in the US are a higher spec to here, but I cant see my other gagdets being replaced for several years. Just dont have the storage yet.

I have two phones and often a satnav in my bag (at least I have the latter when I dont forget to take it with me out of the car like I did in central Birmingham last Sunday afternoon - and got away with it (thanks Thor)).

One of the phones is meant to be a satnav too (and a dozen other things) - but to be honest its awful; meanwhile, because of the dozen other functions it has, its an f'in nightmare to work out! I gave my daughter my previous phone when I got this one - the previous one was just a basic call and text affair - and I wish I still had it!

Answer - I want my phone to be a phone (and maybe a clock) but thats it!

I dont own an Ipod or an MP3 Player, I dont have a camera, but I do have the cell(for work) I use pay as you go( about 13.00 a month).  and its got text, browsing, camera in it but I rarely use it as I seem to spend most of my working day in front of the computer(work and play). I use skype, googlechat to keep in touch with long distance family and friends and my landline is basically for the kids.
If I left the house for long periods of time I would probably be hankering after anIPhone or a Blackberry Storm, but its not a neccessary item. my eldest works for the local com company and gets a hefty discount so it would be cheap but theres more important things. When I go to the US or UK, I take my phone, and my Nintendo DS, which passes time:)

In my experience a mobile phone that is loaded with other applications is neither any good as a phone, camera, a MP3, sat nav device etc. The one I got was top of the range N*kia and after a year of "dealing" with it, have replaced it with an older version. Someday I know this will be a solution but right now its not. Damn glad I didnt throw or give away my other gadgets!

I wonder what a UMPC is...

My cell phone at the moment is a basic little piece of crap, I can text and get/receive calls, but no camera, no SMS, no downloading ringtones.  The Razr phone that met its unfortunate demise was a lot better, but the camera took crappy pictures.  My phone will never replace my digital camera.  I don't have an MP3 player just yet, hopefully Santa got my email and will help me get with the times.  I have no need for a laptop, and I won't get rid of my land line because that's what the kiddos use to call their little friends.  I don't want those little monsters eating up my minutes.

I went 3 months without a cellphone or wifi and as a result felt like I understood the Amish completely. I just couldn't handle that both the computer and the phone I used needed cords to be able to communicate with people. It was a horrifying experience and I hope that I never have to go through it again.

I have a cellphone, digital camera and mp3 player but the only place I will ever have them together is either at a theatrical rehearsal or workshop, used for taking photos and sound samples of work. I also have a landline.

I have an old SE P900 'smart' phone, it did everything, but everything it did was not the best, the camera and video was VGA, the internet was good, but expensive. The MP3 took too much memory, in short it was a compromise for many better gadgets, but the worst thing about it was battery life, I sheer got fed up with having to charge it every night. That thing now sits in my drawer and I carry an old Nokia 6210, and a small compact camera, which has half hour video capacity. If I want music, I carry an old minidisc player/recorder, superior sound to start with and a battery life of over fifty hours.
I have had what was a state of the art cell phone for over four years, but when considering it, it is just junk to real appliances, I for one am moving away from do everything phones, as they are, a complete PITA.

Forgot the alarm clock. I usually set my regular alarm clock and my cell as back up, because I sleep like the dead. I would never own a PDA, but I use my cell to remind me to do things, make little notes of things I want to remember, like lyrics to a nameless song I want to google later. Never wear a watch anymore, and when I upgrade, it will take my iPod's place as provider of my life's soundtrack. Pictures when I don't have my digital cam, phone book, texting, and of course the actual phone aspect...

Sigh. I've thoroughly embraced "The Digital Age."

I've had a cell phone of 1 sort or another since '88.  I got my 1st PDA - a Palm IIIx - in '99.  When it died I replaced it with a Treo 650 PDA/phone.  I've had digital cameras for years.  And I finally got onboard with an 80gb iPod about 2 years ago.  I love my PDA - the camera isn't very good but if I need proof of something I'm all set.  What I really like about my Treo is that I can load books on it and read them on the train.  What can I say - I'm a tech geek :)

I do still have and love the landline. I never answer it -- that's part of it's charm. Those I want to talk to and hear from have my cell number. Those who need a number get the landline... "at the sound of the tone, hang up the phone."
I was watching TV on the laptop until recently and my phone when in the urban areas... but I'm not a television person, so that is not a regular thing for me.
I also love to use my cell as an alarm... and since I misplaced my charger in WI, I need to go get my charging phone out of the car.

I own a cell phone and I prepay for minutes as use it when I travel and it's another way for my elderly parents to get a hold of me if there's an family emergency. I deleted all the games it came with and I also had text messaging blocked so it is a simple cell phone which is what I need. My Mp3 player is for passing time travelling by bus for any great distance. I don't want or need an Ipod or Blackberry!

My cell phone takes pictures, but there's no way it will replace my camera. I have an older MP3 Player I never use so I don't use the one on my phone either. I don't do a lot of phone chatting but I wouldn't want to be without it. It's just FAR too useful. One of the great things about having a cell phone is keeping up with family and friends when you're out in public and you get separated. My Mom has a bad habit of getting lost at the Mall, at the Ren. Faire, the State Fair, the craft fair, or any other kind of Fair or outdoor place where there are lots of people and lots of shiny things to look at. So now when we got anywhere with Mom, the cell phone must go with her or I don't go. I get tired of her complaining about how we keep losing her.

I just wanted to add, my cell phone plan went up $30 a month
to add my Blackberry features {internet, email, etc}.

Like MANY people I am trying to reduce debt, save money etc.

Guess what, I cover the $30 easily by what I save every month.
I take my lunch to work, EVERY day, normally 2 sandwiches and
goodies.
I use coupons at the grocery store and WalMart {average savings $30
a month}.
I rarely, ever, ever buy any type of "fast food".
I work with a woman that can't afford a blackberry but buys KFC or McD's at
least 3 times a week!

I cut all kinds of corners, and live rather frugally, so I can splurge on my Blackberry.
Often on my lunch break at work, I sit in my car eating my homemade goodies and play on my Blackberry.

My cell phone makes calls, and I text on it, but half the time, I have no idea where it is.....the other half, the damn battery is dead.  I still have a Pentax K1000 35mm camera that I use.....had to borrow the digital one from my sis to take pics at rain and Lumy-Baby's wedding.  It was okay, but I'm used to shooting a pic, cranking the film over and immediately taking a pic...I lost some great shots cuz I had to wait for the camera to go thru the motions of showing me the pic, then freeing itself up for another shot.  I can shoot pics about every 7 seconds with my Pentax.......

I have no other gadgets....I do use a thumb drive to store music for use at work.  I just don't need all the bells and whistles...and crap.
