Can someone tell me why.. when someone posts a thread, that 'some' people feel the need to slam that person or another person who replies to it?
I just don't understand... why can't people just agree to not agree at times?
Ok.. sorry for the rant.....

There are cliques here...and some people are more comfortable debating than others...and some topics never fail to raise ire despite how many times they're repeated....etc, etc, tec.

Boredom, ignorance, arrogance, immaturity - pick one! They're all human traits; it's just that some possess higher levels of some traits than others....

Some of my favourite offenders:

Those who post assertively or aggressively without ever addressing the topic. (boredom, arrogance)

Those who whine about a topic having been "done to death" previously. (boredom, ignorance, immaturity)
Note: There are NO truly *new* topics, only people new to experiencing them!

Most I find to be guilty of the above are simple to deal with - I recognise their nic and usually brush straight past their serially cynical nonsense....

But I understand and don't mind when people post a rant such as the OP's - their heart is usually in the right place....

Focus.

There are some on here, who think they "Know it all" and are experts in "EVERYTHING". They have to put their nose in eveything, if it's wanted or not.

Still such a NICE SUB, BalletBob

Isn't debate a relative word *G*..... I can hardly wait for the next one... I have a whole box of rotten vegetables and fruit to throw *G*

but it is par for the course in life I suppose... and sometimes it gets frustrating... but we are all guilty of it at one time or another... some just more than others.

take care

This sounds like an off topic or a random stupidity thread to me. What does it have to do BDSM?

First things first. I do not renember one post by you that mirrored such a personlity. I renember on the opposite a very long thread about hetero-, homo- and bisexuality where you had to defend your position (together with some others) and did that against a lot of flames.

Concerning the OP this message board is a place where people discuss topics that reside very near to their emotions. Like in real life discussions concerning moving topics tend to get heated. In the face of all the violence in the world i see this as a very civilized place.

To Desert Rat. I noticed your ongoing war against the snidy people. I find your attitude of being holier than you ( in the sense of you are a better and good person) not appealing and i am surely not on the same page, concerning the Rant People. In my experience Rant people who rant not about something that happened in their life or a personal situation, but generally about a board, a chat or a group of people are often harmony addicted and intrigant at the same time. Often this Rant is used to gather a clique behind somebody. I am not directing this text at the OP, because this Rant seems to be one of the more innocent to me. But they are the seldom.

One of the big problems here (in my opinion) is that there are some people who believe that their opinion is law. They will argue on a topic until it is past the point of reason, because "they say so". Thankfully there are not too many or it would be really unpleasant to come here.
I have been known to be obstinate at times myself, and there are times that I let others get under my skin... I have been gently reminded by some of the longer term posters that it only hurts me when I let this happen.
There are definitely some topics and opinions that really cheese me off... but I have been trying to be diplomatic with my responses.
No matter where you go there are going to be those who rub you the wrong way. Flaming them is not going to make things any better.
I may sound silly, but I thought that a group of people with alternative lifestyles might be more supportive of each other... considering how difficult it is for us to be who we are with all those Vanilla folks.

Was trying to be nice, calling it debating. More times it resembles mud-slinging, but hey, why lower the tone?
