Why don't the people rise up and do something completely nutty?

Why doesn't everyone, and I mean EVERYONE just decide to not vote for the lesser of two evils? I bet if they had an election that was set up where you'd check the box of everyone you DON"T want to vote for, the election would turn out very, very differently. Odds are, there'd be a third party in office.
