I am talking with my kyra on the phone as I write this.... and as we are talking.... we come to reflect on the first time that she gave me that annoyed look... you know the look... "Who the f**K do you think you are?" So do you remember the first time your sub/slave gave you that look or as sub/slave do you remember the first time you gave your Dom/Master that look? enquiring minds want to know.

kyra gave me that look the very first day we were together. We were at a Fire Play workshop when I told her to go and participate in making herself a firewand... she turned and looked at me and gave me "THE LOOK" as I remember I just chuckled and stated "Well, get going" It was so obvious that the submissive I had at the time even noticed it. kyra and I still chuckle about it.

for alandra... god I just can't remember... maybe she does?

Hmmm, I had been married for about 2 months when my husband kind of, absent mindedly told me to get him a cup of coffee...just like that too....'get me some coffee'...I looked at him and actually did say 'what the fuck do I look like to you'...at which he promptly reached over and smacked me so hard on my ass that I jumped...then he looked at me again and said..'get me a cup of coffee'...that was it, nothing else...but the tone of voice and the look in his eyes...that was more than enough lol. Needless to say, I hurried to get him a cup of coffee : )

Somehow I think I always end up with the look the first time they realize I am seriously about to put them in a cage. Why is it that they always assume you were joking? haha

That and when the violet wand sparks in front of them for the first time.

Such fun memories.

I give myself that very look, every single morning!
It's like WTF?
Why do you keep doing this to yourself Fastlane?

Then, I do it again that night

Excellent Firefly reference!

I remember my first time. It was at a public vanilla gathering at a friend's house. He sat down on the sofa and said "get me a Sierra Mist with two ice cubes". All of our friends literally dropped their jaws in shock. I gave him the nastiest look I could muster, and then got MYSELF a drink.

Now our friends know about and understand our power exchange, so it's cool. But that first time, it made me panic.

If I recall correctly, my Lord, I had arrived earlier that afternoon after a 10 hour trip (over 8 hours of actual flight time). I had been up since about 4 AM Eastern and I believe it was after 8 PM Mountain. The excitement of the upcoming trip had kept me from sleeping much the entire week before, so I was tired before I even started the journey. Sitting still during the presentation, I started to crash. By the time they called us up to make the fire wands, I didn’t know if I could even walk straight much less have the mental capacity to actually create a wand. You looked at me and asked if I wanted to do it and I shook my head no. Then you handed me the metal rod and told me to go up there. I didn’t take it at first and you lightly smacked me on the leg with it. I took the wand and that is when you got the look.

At least standing up and moving around kept me awake a little longer and since everything was in the middle of the room, there was little chance of running into the walls (but that is another story). I remember completely crashing once we got back in the van and have little recollection of the drive back to the hotel. It’s a good thing I got the nap since you didn’t let me sleep much that night.

I give that look a lot. Mostly it is to people at work though.

With one Dom friend of mine I do remember the first time. It was maybe the second or third time we had met and we were having lunch at an IHOP. I can't recall the exact conversation, but the phrase "not a woman's place" came out of his mouth. It must have been quite a look, because he actually stopped mid sentence and hastily added, "Let me finish, let me finish!"

Over time it has lost its effectiveness though. Now it is mostly ignored.

I remember it well. Kari and I were out for the first time and I told her to sit quietly with her eyes lowered and hands in her lap while I drove. I immediately got 'the Look'. I pulled over to the side of the road, reached across and opened her door. She asked what I was doing and I told her to either obey my commands or get out. (We were only about 1/2 mile from her home.) She stared at me for about 20 seconds (I think to see if I was kidding) and then closed the door and lowered her eyes. Her hands shook a little as she put them in her lap but she now understood that I was not kidding.

My point of starting this post... is not only to reflect that these situations can be often humorously remembered... But they happen within any relationship. These moments that the look occurs are a Test of sorts for both the Dominant/Master as well as the submissive/slave. It is not a failure that these looks occur, for in my opinion, they are actually healthy to occur within a relationship. These occurances of "the look' can be for a variety of reasons... but they are often can be a bit of a surprize or even unsettling for both Dominant/Master and submissive/slave alike. It my thought that one needs to understand how to handle it when it happens for both sides of the coin... and how we handle this situation is the "Test".

As a the Master of my girls... the only question that comes to my mind when I recieve the look ... is there something that can or would harm my girl that is a result of my actions (since of course the look is always a response to my actions). As Dominant in a relationship, I would have to consider am I pushing some boundary/limit... mmm but lucky I don't have to go into that thinking. Now... how handle this situation is going to have a direct impact on how my girls respond. If i show any weakness to my action... well then I have just caved and will make a bad behavior become worse.... If I over react it could equally be a problem... and every situation is going to be different. But I suggest consider what the submissive/slave is feeling and thinking. They could be in one of two directions... one... still in the WTF... or two... Oh Shit!

I tend to keep my self quiet and small in these situations as a norm... I don't get overly pushy or even question... But.. I might just point the direction so to speak... "go and do it" with that nice smile of mine.

anyways just more thoughts for this tread...

What is it with You and fire?? *s*
I distincly remember an evening out at a club and watching Knight do a fire play. It was beautiful to watch but He was also well aware of my fear of fire. Then I got the LOOK and the finger crooked in my direction. I think the look on my face at that exact moment was something along the line of You are kidding, right??
He wasn't kidding.

My Lord can correct me if I am wrong, but typically I only give the look when the instructions push me beyond my comfort level. It is because what I am being required to do causes me anxiety. It is not because I just don’t want to do it but because the thought of doing it generates negative emotions. In those times, I reaffirm to myself that I trust him, that I know he would never harm me and that he will catch me if I fall flat on my face.

How he handles these moments works perfectly with my personality. I have never been one to respond well to overt shows of authority or power. He sets up the expectation and then allows me to make the choice to meet it. It is up to me to push myself; he just shows me the direction he wants me to push in. It is the intrinsic motivation to please him that gets me past the negative emotions. These moments, though difficult tend to be rewarding in the end.

Laughs hard as I read this thread. I think my sadistic side enjoys that look. It typically means your reached that place beyond the comfort zone. That's where growth occurs....and the Sadistic mind gets a thrill. (Secretly also where most subs enjoy being taken, even if they huff and puff and insist they don't like it.) I have always found it more humorous than anything else, but I am gifted with a look that returns and makes one come to realize quickly who is Master and Master of 'the look'. *grins.
