Has anyone seen this film? I feel like I can relate 100 %. This movie says it to the core. Atleast in my case

I think the question should be, "has anyone not seen this movie?"

We have all seen it here.....what took you so long?

siamsa24 -> RE: movie: Secretary (12/22/2005 7:29:42 PM)

There have been tons of threads that discuss (or at least partially discuss) this movie, the most recent one can be found here:

This is a must-see film. I did wish the James Spader character wasn't quite so querky, but Maggie G. is right on target for her character.

Imagine a sequel....The Accounting...

So he hires a NEW Secretary and... yum.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: movie: Secretary (12/23/2005 11:51:34 AM)

MAsterLArk I thought the movie was a huge disapointment. I detailed why in the original thread about it, but while it was good for a few fantasies like when he jacks off onto her at work, well I wouldn't consider this a must see. Except for the fact that I try to have the attitude that well I saw it and even if it sucked at least I am not curious about it any more. That attiude helps a lot hehehe

cloudboy -> RE: movie: Secretary (12/23/2005 4:55:37 PM)

What was interesting about SECRETARY was how the DOM (James Spader) suffered (angst) more than the sub.

Fair comment. I was also disappointed, if only because didn't do the things I would have wanted them to do, were I the director. Still, it was a slice that was fascinating on its own terms.

Yes, and I was unclear why that was so. I felt that as viewers we were never told enough about how he came to be where he was, what history he had that mattered.

i just saw the movie for the first time yesterday... i have to say i was a bit confused.. it was not as good a movie as all have said but at least now i have seen it . will not be a repeat though

MizKitty -> RE: movie: Secretary (12/30/2005 3:16:37 PM)

I can see why the James Spader character had such a hard time accepting his role as a dom. First of all, as we all know, vanilla society generally does not accept nor take seriously the BDSM lifestyle. Secondly, many men are raised that the ultimate in evil is to strike a woman. I know several male doms who have had a hard time accepting the role at first for this reason. Thirdly, being a dom is a big responsibility! Anyway, that's just my opinion!

Much of that is true, but a real Dominant, it seems to me, would be enjoying it far more than being in angst most of the time.
