More people probably bought guns now for fear of restrictions making them harder to get later I seriously doubt many intend to make a stand against the state with them. From what I've seen the gun loving people in the US are all paranoid about their right to bear arms being taken away from them with no real evidence that any such thing is happening. It seems to be brought up frequently but no real change ever occurs on the issue, nothing will convince on the subject not even an eight year old kid being able to kill two adults...but I digress.

Fear not.

Actually the "people rushing out to buy lots of guns" story is false. Seems to have been planted by the NRA.

Uh-oh.

You had to go there didn't you?

I predict several pages of angry responses pointing out guns don't kill people, people kill people.

You realize gunguys.com is an antigun site that is mostly anti-gun propaganda right? They also ran a story that said firearms were not being seized by the state and military during Katrina. They don't deal with facts, only manipulation.

Yeah and you can just as easily kill someone with a spoon if you know how to use it.[:D]

Paranoia is an irrational fear of something or someone. The concern from people who care about their basic rights is therefore not paranoia. Obama has stated, that to start with, he is going to reenact the Brady Ban, close down gun shows and prohibit private sales of firearms.

Obama is also pushing an Attorney General who is decidedly anti-gun. Again, it is not paranoia when you can see the writing on the wall.

Lowers?

As far as the OP is concerned, as long as she's towing the party line and doing her job does it really matter? And what's so bad about being an advocate for women's rights anyway?

painpup -> RE: Will Secretary Clinton Be an Advocate for Women Worldwide? (11/22/2008 5:13:00 PM)

i submit if You as a Countries leader if You haven't got a problem with law abiding people having fire arms  the n why restrict them from Owning also why restrict permits for carry or conceal carry  You're sorta hitting the Nail there Naga he's getting quite a line up in his first appointment  yes i do think law abiding people are more then just a lil worried

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Will Secretary Clinton Be an Advocate for Women Worldwide? (11/22/2008 5:27:29 PM)

What politicians want and what they can get done are two separate things altogether.

painpup -> RE: Will Secretary Clinton Be an Advocate for Women Worldwide? (11/22/2008 5:29:54 PM)

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Will Secretary Clinton Be an Advocate for Women Worldwide? (11/22/2008 5:34:54 PM)

Safer than I would feel if I got on a train and had an argument there, worst that could happen most of the time here is that someone knocks my teeth out. I don't argue with teenagers because they carry weapons, they soon grow out of that though, it's a phase.[8|]

Do you have a ref proving either claim?
