LOL.. Uncle Nasty!

Whatever is going on it is still working, but I am not going to count on it and will start looking at other options.  Like wires... thank you Needtouseyou.  I didn't want to call my son in law (again!) but he came over on another something and he has fixed his fridge a few times so I will have him look at it and see what we can do.  I won't put too much into this one, but a few bucks and cheap labor... okay.

Then if that doesn't work he is taking me around town to some places he knows where I might pick up some dented or scratched or something used.  I should have known to call the kid!  He is amazing.  I told my daughter I wanted one and she laughed.  She knows she got a good one!  I am just used to doing for myself and not used to calling anyone.

I was just hoping to get through the next month without any more expenses seeing as though I have some taxes to pay and all that fun new ownership stuff.

You all had some great idea's and I was in 'oh shit' mode and brain dead from a headache.  Thank you for the warnings too... I hate those places and see how people get trapped, but in an emergency, low on cash I was in the same place.. ding, ding!  Thank you all!  Even you Uncle Nasty! lol

Levity has its place too Lockit. Sometimes it is beyond repression.

You're welcome to it anytime.

One Handed Uncle Nasty

Levity has a place in most every situation!  It's one of life's best tools.

One handed eh?  Interesting! lol

Shit, if you were in my neck of the woods, I have a spare fridge and washer and dryer and dishwasher.

So it goes.

i second the nomination for Freecycle!

Freecycle is an online group run by Yahoo.. where people post things they no longer want.. or people may post for things they are looking for.

Its all free.. lots of it is junk of course.. But still fun to look through the ads.

All ya need do, is go to www.freecycle.com  and type in the state where you live, zip code also i think, and it will give you a list for freecycle groups in that area.. pick one and join it.. If you chose to post that ya need a fridge.. anyone who responds will do so through the site, which will email the message to whatever email ya typed in when you joined.

It is also a great way of getting rid of any unwanted items.. instead of going into the landfill, those items can have a second life with someone else.. From clothes.. to Frigerators.. furniture.. ect Give it a shot! i love it!

It sounds like the timer for the compressor.

Lockit -> RE: I think my fridge is a bomb... hehe... help? (11/24/2008 12:18:34 PM)

I am kind of leaning towards the timer for the compressor from what people have said and what I have read.  I will check out prices and such, but am also thinking just getting a used one might be best for the moment.

Hippi... hasn't that always been the thing... that distance... lol

I like Sears for buying new appliances.  Kenmore specifically.
Think you'll wind up paying more at Rent-a-Center.
Sears will deliver and install and all that good stuff and you can even get some credit specials depending on what they're marketing most heavily at that time.
Good luck!
Oh, or try your local freecycle group and see if anyone is giving one away: free is always good.
You can c-mail me if you don't know about Freecycle; it rocks!  :>

Typically you have 2 moving parts. A fan and the compressor. I would pull the refrigerator out and clean underneath the refridgerator with a vacuum cleaner. Many times due to lack of cleaning a bunch of dust accumulates on the fan causing it to be unbalanced and makes noises.
