KIA's track record is so bad that many banks will not even finance one. I tried desperately to talk a girlfriend out of buying one two years ago...she didn't listen and it ended up in the shop more often than it was out of the shop, the company wouldn't stand behind it and it ended up sucking her dry. My brother is a car salesman and when they take in a KIA on a trade they immediately wholesale it because they will not put it out on their lot. Happy customers are return customers.....KIA owners are often NOT happy customers.

OMG, this has me laughing so hard right now!

P.S. My little M3 has an amount of leg room that surprises everyone that rides in it. Definately no zoom zoom issues

Speaking of which, did you check out the Toyota Rav4?  My Hubby is 6'3" and he fits into one fine.

Status: offline 		I've been loyal to the BIG 3 all of my life....but I'm pretty sure that my next vehicle will be a Toyota. I was going to suggest the Rav4 too.

i'm also partial to the subaru outback, which, yes is more of a wagon, but still... back where i'm from, there's this river with a STEEP (absurdly, almost dangerously) STEEP pathway to get down to it. not only that but there are tree roots sticking out and rocks that are just waiting to slip out from under you and send you down onto the jagged rocks below =p
once while i was there, i saw a guy DRIVE an outback straight down it, no problem
i was amazed
and so began my love affair with those things =p

Ummmm...count me in with the KIA happy customers.  I bought mine in 2004, it was a year old with 12,000 miles on it.  It just has one problem with the clutch.  It gets me where I want to go fairly economically.  My daughter bought hers the same day, same model, same mileage & she traded it in this year.  She misses it.  I haven't driven the car a lot, so it only has 47,000 miles on it 4 years later.  I have a friend who's never had a bit of trouble with his KIA either.

Not what TheHeretic is looking for, but I just couldn't let this post go by without comment.

BP and I have a friend who is 6'2 he is comfortable back and front with our Vibe..but I had a silly thought, you can get the hollow wedge shaped door stops for a couple of bucks, cut it down and permanently glue to to the front of the track forming a barrier between you and the metal on any car you decide on. http://www.organize.com/hedunodogifo.html

The problems with my Vue's transmission, and the way GM is handling it, will cause me to go Honda, Nissan or Lexus for my next vehicle.

Orion, don't go "Lexus."
A friend of mine had one and it cost him *big bucks* when it went off warranty!
They're known for transmission and electrical problems.
Among other things.
The parts for them must be "platinum plated."
He got rid of it and bought a Vette.
He said of the Lexus, "boy, I feel sorry for the poor s.o.b. who buys that POS!"
He said one small part cost him $380.
Everytime I see one now I think to myself, "Ha! Sucker!"
"You overpaid for a Toyota!"
There's plenty of good cars in the $40-$50k price range.
But hey, if you want one buy one.

    The Chrysler dealership had a Jeep I hadn't seen.  Spur-of-the-monent, I decided to give the 'home team' industry one more shot at earning my business.  They call this one Patriot (yeah... I know).  The seat would go back far enough to take my legs.  The console was tolerable.  I could shift my shoulders without banging into anything.  The interior wasn't bad, it even had a moon roof (I love those).  It came in a color combination that works in my desert.  I wasn't done.

    A little awkward to get out, but I have that now with my Subaru, and WHAT THE FUCK?!?!  Something bit me on the way out.  I looked down, and the track that had slid the seat back far enough to take my legs was sticking out four inches in front of the seat.  Sharp edged metal, completely exposed.  It had ripped right through my sock, and scuffed the skin on my ankle.  It would certainly rip any pair of slacks that caught on it.

    Nobody noticed this little glitch?  Nobody cared?  Total deal ender.  What else is wrong with it that doesn't bite you like a snake?  We are supposed to rescue this crap?


Perhaps you should go car hunting and take a hammer, any sharp bit that bites, club it to oblivion with the hammer, either that or invest in armour.

          I'm driving a Subaru Legacy now, and I have kept right on going up roads that scared off Suburbans.  It predates the Outback package, and is just about used up.  It was old when I got it, and I have put a hard 65,000 miles on it.  The Forester has been on the short list for a while, but I'm afraid a smooth talking saleswoman, with legs that make a perfect ass of themselves, would turn me to the WRX, and drive my insurance rates through the roof. 

       I like the Rav4.

           There has never been room for my knees in a "real" Jeep.  And the mileage sucks in the bigger wagons. 

       No worries.  I won't be buying anything from that company.  And I sent my Congressman a note about my preference for his vote on giving them any money.

Status: offline 		Hell a friend of mine has had nothing but Lexus for the last 5 years. he buys them at auction. We go to the pull it yourself yards for parts and never pay that much. Likely I will be going Honda though, because the Lexus I want is just too pricey for me. Thanks for the heads up though.
