Hey, marie... I never did learn what denomination you are.  Maybe we could worship together sometime?

John

Why not simplify this whole thing, John?

How about you be God, and just leave the worshipping part to me?

Would that include a tax free religous status?

John

Only if you actually perform miracles.

Well, several victims... errr... partners have remarked, on occasion, that I'm miraculous.  Does that count?

Sense of smell can be extremely stimulating to me in an aphrodesiac kind of way.  I always get turned-on immensely in church; the combination of frankincense, myrrh, and cedar drives me absolutely wild.  Not a good thing during weddings and funeral services, however.  I always come out horny as hell and wanting to get beaten and fucked on the altar.

marie2--I'm with you on wanting to makeproper use for worship, my kind of worship, on a church altar.  :>

OP--Certainly, all senses are important.  I would say that scent and hearing are most important and most erotic for me.

Happy to see that I am not the only person who can't handle perfumey odors..  Strong scents=instant migraine for me..

DavanKael -> RE: the mood (11/24/2008 10:40:12 AM)

Hi, BSB----
I agree, strong, chemical perfume scents: headache for sure.
Naturals (Via essential oils, good quality candles/incense are fabulous).

~FR~

Cheap perfumes or really strong scents make my eyes puff up and water and my sinuses instantly stuff up. Not pretty, hard to do much when you can't breath [:o]

I find alot of music just distracts me or irritates me. So alot of the time is a huge mood breaker.

oceanwynds -> RE: the mood (11/24/2008 10:54:11 AM)

Oh sage is great, as well as many other types of herbs and flowers. I use a lot of oils and incense. Candles are a given. Oddly I am allergic to perfumes and colognes, but can handle the flower sprays.

This week I will be attending a Catholic Mass, since my daughter asked me to go with them. Now i got new visions to think about while they do their service. Thanks Rover, Marie and Davan for the visuals. :)

(fast reply)
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab makes a variety of room sprays that are rather nifty. They have some that are specifically and deliberately sexual (and rather BDSMy) in theme.

Lockit -> RE: the mood (11/24/2008 12:06:00 PM)

I have a serious problem with scent and a cheap perfume or even deoderant or pine cleaner will have me running for air.  But I love scent.  I found that if I put stick incense in something (not burning it) and have that close to the bed or in a room, it gives a scent that I can handle as long as they aren't the sweet or perfume scents.  If it is a problem they can be removed and most of the time I have had no problem with them and they do scent the room better with less affect than other things.

I love setting the stage so to speak, from what's cooking in the kitchen to texture of things I am using in play.  I love rabbit fur and scratchy stuff... blindfolds to enhance it all and food is just yummy done without the messy aspects... Hard, cold, warm, soft... scent and taste... yummmm

I forgot... oil based perfumes are easier for me to handle on someone or myself.  No more headaches and breathing challenges.  If there is alcohol in perfume... forget it!

Well... barbeque flavour comes to mind, the BBQ is on my deck, next to the playroom [:D]. Cheap perfume makes me dream of hot Longk Island blue collar chicks, I go weak at the knees. Mixes well with BBQ flavour, too - works very well in Oztralian, Barbie smell..

Lately I find that setting the mood for a session adds more layers of sensuality. The look, the smell, the feel, all tactile aspects seem to enhance the moment, so I like candles & incense as part of the setting. Smell is especially stimulating, I love the scent of burning sage, it seems to compliment the natural aroma of sex. Anyone have a similar perspective?

i love creating a mood/setting for enhancing intimacy and other related activities and every sense is important. i burn alot of incense - patchouli and frankinsense being my favorites - never thought of sage...

Infact getting ready to do a "house cleansing" with sage this afternoon - now i will be thinking sex! oh good grief!

... for instance, I like to let some chocolate melt in my mouth and then give a long, deep kiss.  Use different tastes to make each kiss a surprise.

What a fabulous idea! i will have to try that [;)]

Always glad to be of service, oceanwynds.  If you happen to find a hot priest while you're there, I'd be rather in your debt if you'd send him my way; you see, I have this little 'corruption' fantasy....

ftmyersartist -> RE: the mood (11/24/2008 2:04:50 PM)

Smell is the only sense that feeds directly to the brain without logic sensors processing it. Which is why a scent can trigger such strong emotional responses from good to bad. There was a thing they tried at I beleive USC where they would use various scents and nothing more and mixing recognizable scents could create a mental image in the subjects and even in some cases get emotional responses.

For me, I tend to use sounds more then scents in playing. . much more controlable and finite. From scene music to noises such as the sound of clinking chain to a zipper. . .I use the noise to try and create the mental image of where I want the subs mind to be.

I have a really strong reaction to perfumes that are sweet and flowery. I use to have a real problem with it in public places when a female would walk by with a great smelling perfume. Of course back then if the wind blew, I got aroused too. It still gets a pretty strong reaction but I can control it a little better than I use to lol. If you happen to see me at a BDSM event somewhere and I'm sniffing the air..you'll know what's up..[:D]

SimplyMichael -> RE: the mood (11/24/2008 3:08:44 PM)

Since you guys want to be serious about this, I am surprised nobody has mentioned planting suggestions beforehand to set the mood, perhaps with a note secreted someplace they are sure to find hinting at what is to come, or perhaps slowly dropping hints to confuse/arouse/terrify someone prior to getting together.  Or of giving some instructions for a task in the same vein.

Or of setting the mood by throwing the furniture around and throwing things on the floor so when she comes in and you are wearing a mask...

Even just a blindfold accompanied by strange unknown sounds or even voices could be interesting

If you really wanted to see me in the fetal position, holding my knees and rocking back and forth, staring into space..Perfect way to do it! LOL
