i tend to eat only one thing, for several weeks... i've been doing it all year, but it never happened before then.

like, for a while i only ate apples with peanut butter (i was carrying a jar of peanut butter and a peeler in my purse)... after i phased out of that, i was only eating parmesan bagels with pesto cream cheese (2 a day, one for lunch and one for dinner)... then i went on a kick where all i was eating was chinese food.... and then i switched to raviolis...

right now i'm on a rice thing... i bought a rice cooker, so i just eat it all the time... and it's pretty much all i want.

don't people normally crave variety?

is this a weird thing?

it tends to be pretty specific, and when i have these cravings, nothing else even tastes good.

does anyone else experience this?

generally with food cravings, your body *needs* something that is a bit out of whack in your metabolism.  i'm having fishsticks.    for me, i have issues with craving sweets, and have to find something else.  crystal light fruit punch works in this case.

now....if you are going for months on end and your mouth just isnt happy with anything else?  if you arent getting good nutrition out of your food (such as eating rice with nothing else, months on end) you might want to get that looked into.  a decent multivitamin every day probably wouldnt do you any harm either.

I crave one thing, all the time.........food.

Hense, the diet.

But I have dropped 15 pounds in the last 5 weeks.....I won't say how many more need to go.

Thank you..........having mid aged reality slap you in the face rather sucks.

Oh for the days to be able to eat anything, never go to the gym or exercise for the sake of exercise and still get into skinny jeans and look HAWT.........now it takes sacrifice and hard work. Neither of which I am fond of, at least not this type.

I crave one thing all of the time   Women

Hence why I am on here.

I do go on food kicks also.  The only one that I have really stayed on is Heinz tomato juice.
I can not get enough of that stuff. I can go thru a can a day.

OP, you likely do not drink enough drinking water.

the body craves what it thinks it wants... so teh sensory is marred when the toxins are not flushed.  this is magnified if your colon has gook in it.

I do it too... for a while, it was waffles with butter, peanut butter and syrup.  Then it was fluffer-nutter sandwiches. Cheese quesadillas.  Scrambled egg sandwiches.

Hmm.. fluffernutter... must stop at grocery store on my way home from the Dr.

Congrats on the 15 lbs, LaT!  *smooch*

Pa, you can either keep it on pass it on, just please don't send it back. I've got too many more waiting to abandon ship. I can almost hear each and every pound grumbling about the lack of homemade noodles, potatoes, less (but never going without) chocolate. I just might be responsible for the makers of Doves going under pretty soon.........

type 2 diabetes isnt giving me much choice, you know? although the other day i was craving a chocolate chip cookie so bad...went to the bakery at the grocery store and got one.  i figure if i dont do that sort of thing over once a week or so i wont be in too much trouble.

but man...a 30 day scrip for the secondary med the doc wanted me on....and its $158 a bottle.  one hundred fifty eight dollars for 30 pills.  i'm really wanting to be on some insurance help for medication now.  (by the end of the year i should be but DANG.)

Ouch. That sucks. Diabetes is one of those things that terrifies me. One of the motivators for the current d-i-e-t. (four letter word)

diet is just "die" with a t tacked on the end.  "lifetime habit changes" sounds much easier to deal with!

honestly i think moderation in all things food is a good habit to adopt.

kitten, who had fishsticks for breakfast.  again.

That sounds like a protein deficiency to me... All the peanut butter and eggs... Maybe you should have that checked out...

Cravings are normal.. But if you crave weird things, get to the Dr right away... I learned that when I was prego...  I always crave things... More so lately... And I want to eat CONSTANTLY.. but I go through kicks mostly where i will want noghting but tuna salad... Mmmmm.. That's only b/c it's like my FAVORITE food... You're probably fine.  But like someone else said, if you are only eating one thing and not getting any nutrition, see a doctor... Hell, since nothing else tastes good, maybe it's a sinus problem... If your sinuses are all messed up, you might not be able to taste things right...

Edited to add congrats to LaT...

oh I generally don't do them one after the other.. usually, the streaks are broken up by eating normally (well, as normally as I ever do..LOL).  I picked up the peanut butter and fluff today, had 2 sandwiches.. and the craving is gone (I shoulda gotten the smaller jar of fluff).  I've just had curry chicken for supper.  Now I want a thick, bloody steak, dammit.
