Status: offline 		Was wondering if others would share their experinces with having to remove their body hair (legs and so forth).  I'm mostly looking for tips and tricks to keep those nasty in-growns from happening, as well as what methods you personally have found most effective and last the longest, wether it be shaving, nair, or wax.  Hope to hear from you all soon and please no wanker stories, I need advice not chicken choking material

Status: offline 		Shaving.  Do it daily.  Few issues with in-grown hairs. 
Wax sucks because you have to let the hair grow out more than I'd prefer. 
Nair eats my skin away and, I assure you, the sensation is not pleasurable.

Status: offline 		I've always shaved to remove body hair when I need to.

I don't even use cream...

never had an in-grown hair (except on my face the ONE time I used shaving cream).


I'd suggest an electric razor to thin the hair out for the first time, then an ordinary shaving razor to finish it off. Just make sure you shave regularly and you shouldn't need the electric one again.

Granted, this only lasts as long as normal shaving, but it's pretty simple.

Status: offline 		I shave,wax,nair...and have a nifty **buffer** type thing which also works well....It really depends on my mood.
A few tips that have helped me:
-Always shave in the direction of hair growth.
- Sally Hansen makes great depilatory cream that comes with conditioning lotion---it works wonders to sooth skin and I use it even after other means of hair removal.It comes in a tiny bottle with their face cream, but well worth the cost.
- Lightly buffing the body with a  dry loofah exfoliates the skin and makes it softer( and seems to help in avoiding shave bumps)--I do this before hair removal while my body is dry,and later in the day as well.
- There are several creams for when you do get shave bumps--I myself am experimenting with them.Some can be found in the african section of most stores...
- Nair Salon Divine Microwavable body wax kit needs no strips, and as well as lasting longer than most wax, also works on short hair.I lovvvvvve the stuff!

Status: offline 		Hmm well I used nair the new shower kind just last night, and so far so good I have the tiniest amount of stubble, but very little compared to when I've shaved with a razor, and so far no ingrowns, but its a little early still so we shall wait and see, Ill keep those of you following this post updated on how I find the nair working. Oh and fyi this kinda came with exfoliating beads and so forth, its coated on with a sponge allowed to sit, and then you just rub off with the rougher side of the sponge, like most nair it doesnt smell the greatest, but it is no where near as bad as some stuff, its actually really tolerable to.

Status: offline 		I'm a big fan of waxing. Never had trouble with ingrown hairs from doing it, it stays softer longer, and when the hair does grow back, it grows back thinner and softer so it's less noticable (in my opinion).

If you're going to shave, I suggest using an exfoliating acne fash wash, as well as deoderant. I know, weird combo, but trust me, it works wonderfully. Scrub with the face wash every day and apply the deoderant as well.

Status: offline 		I like to use my razor--but i had to learn how to shave.  i use to use cold water, shave any direction i wanted, and used cheap-ass razors.

Using a decent triple blade razor helped.  Opening the pores with hot water helped.  Using shave gel helped.

Status: offline 		The new 4 and 5 bladed razors are even smoother to shave with.  I agree with the advice of using an electric razor for that main trimming (I am the one who has to shave Alexis's back) and follow up with a regular razor for the strays.  I recommend waxing for the legs and armpits because I love that smooth feeling afterwards.

Status: offline 		I would suggest shaving as well, wax seems incredibly painful, and speaking from experience nair is one of the most painful burning sensations ever. :(

Status: offline 		I just recently went through the process of using nair for the first time, yesterday in fact, to remove my body hair for the first time. I have a few sore, burning spots and a few bits I had to clean up with a razor, which I'm putting down to inexperienced use of the product.

I'm going to go with shaving in the future, I used a lot of nair in the process and it took me forever to get it done, probably due to inexperience, but I feel more confident with a razor. In the end personal preference is going to be what decides it.

I've had moisturiser recommended to me for after-care, especially if new to being hair-less, once or twice a day.

Status: offline 		Well so far everythings been good with the nair, for me it went quick and fast and besides for a little burning feeling at first it was painless and pretty easy, spread on, scrub off lol Anyways I've been following up every day now with a razor in the shower, usually after I've washed me hair first and Ive had a few possible ingrowns that i've nipped in the bud quickly with a pair of revlon tweezers. I'm not sure how long Ill keep this up but I am definately going to consider trying the wax next time around because Im a little dissapointed with the more prickley feeling I notice sometimes really late at night, but so far my legs and such have been silky smooth, it helps I think to use lotion and a exfoliating moisturizing body wash.

Status: offline 		Waxing works best, it also tends to reduce the hair, it grows back a lot sparser after a while.

The best thing to avoid ingrown hair is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate....

Status: offline 		I shave then follow with a acne treatment to keep ingrowns in check...also the deo thing works well too...just don't use the spray kind!  Keep a new blade on as well...helps from going over place too many times.

Status: offline 		Body sugar, the kind they sell at Arab or middle Eastern stores, is amazing! You can make it yourself if you know how. I don't. It's easier and less messy than wax, can be reused, is not infused with any annoying scents,doesn't need to be nuked. My only caution is that if you leave it laying around, your dog may start licking it..ewww.

Status: offline 		Well after shaving, to stop any bumps, use any kind of cortisone cream. Cortaid or a generic brand. WORKS wonders. and you stay smooth

Status: offline 		i wax everything that has hair on it on my body,except my head lol. i love it and so does my Sir. i assure you though it is rather painful the first few times, but it is well worth it. it usually lasts a month and a half before i see any trace of hair and i have never gotten an ingrown hair. my waxer gives me this oil to put on the day after i have it done and it makes the redness and bumps go away. good luck :)
