Happy Thanksgiving Day Everyone...

1.  I'll be enjoying a gourmet feast that will include 2 different kinds of turkey, various veggies from the farmer's market, chestnut & cranberry stuffing, the creamiest mashed potatoes you'll ever taste, various cheeses/charcuterie/nuts and fresh-baked bread. Top that all off with numerous bottles of California red wine!

2. My family of choice

3. I'm thankful for good friends and family (choice or otherwise), my health, my jobs and my ability to keep my cats...and myself...in the manner to which we've become accustomed.  Life really is good.

I am having dinner from Cracker Barrel.  Their Thanksgiving dinner is pretty awesome!

I'm not seeing anyone.  Me and the dog, sitting around in our jammies (well, the dog doesn't have jammies) watchign movies and relaxing.  I tried to work up an emotional snit about being by myself but just couldn't do it.  I rather like my own company and I've been working so hard lately that a couple of days just lolling about are just what I need.

I'm thankful for the job that has me run off my feet.  My darling mother's continuing good health, and a boatload more self awareness than I had this time last year.

We're having a pretty traditional dinner. Turkey (in the oven right now), mashed taters n gravy, stuffing, crescent rolls, deviled eggs, corn, green beans and cranberry sauce. Key lime pie for dessert. Generally, we eat between 2:30 and 3:00 in the afternoon.. then munch throughout the day. We're taking the day off from packing and stuff so it's a nice break after all the hard work we've be doing.

We won't be visiting. Our house is completely torn apart getting ready to leave the country (two weeks from today!) so we're just too busy to go visiting and can't host right now either. This will be the last big meal I cook and I'll start packing up the rest of the kitchen this coming week.

I'm most thankful that Himself has this incredible opportunity which will allow us to explore so much more of the world than we might otherwise have not had the chance to explore and he's very happy and content (a gross understatement) with his new job. His wittle face gets all glowy when he starts talking about it. ::grins::

1. What did/will you eat?  Typical turkey dinner.  However, Mummy has decided that we will not have the traditional cranberry fluffy thing that our family has made since BEFORE I WAS BORN (I have the original recipe card for it that was written by the wife of one of my dad's associates in the early 1960's), and is one of those set-in-stone-things that I look forward to, but instead, will have some sort of pistachio-nutty-fluffy-thing.  [8|]

Cali - you have to rebel against this type of madness.  (Need the posse?)

1.  Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie, apple pie.

2.  My dad, the Things, and DaddyBoo will be coming over later.

3.  I'm most thankful for good health of my family and me, a job that I really and truly love - that I thought I'd never find about 5 months ago, a home - it's not the Taj - but it's warm and safe and more than some folks have, my relationship with IntenseMaster (DaddyBoo), and the fact that, if all goes well, I'll have my van paid off in February.

Blessings to all of you!

1. What did/will you eat?

I baked two Honeysuckle White turkey breasts, one of which we injected with Cajun flavoring.  We also had Stovetop stuffing, baked yams, turkey gravy, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and hot rolls.  I made some Jello fruitsalad, a graham cracker pie with French Vanilla pudding, a Key Lime pie and some Magic Cookie bars (graham cracker crust with condensed milk, coconut, walnuts and butterscotch and chocolate chips).  We ate dinner a couple hours ago but no one has touched dessert yet[:)]

It was just me, Master and his son.  His step-daughter and her husband were down from Ohio but we lunched with them yesterday as they were having dinner with some of her bio dad's people today.

We had a huge family bash, like I haven't seen in decades.  Parents, aunt, uncle, cousins, a ton of quite young men & women.  2 turkeys, dressing, mashed potatoes, yams, biscuits, some evil broccoli/cheese concoction, the famous canned cranberry sauce, the infamous cranberry salad, and a host of deserts.

It was a lot of fun.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone!

ResidentSadist -> RE: -=Gobble Gobble... Happy Thanksgiving=- (11/27/2008 8:20:49 PM)

Thanksgiving was awesome.  Checked in with friends and family on the phone.  Had dinner with the GF and she made a great meal.  I hadn’t remembered the menu right when I posted earlier.

Roast chicken
Stuffing from inside the bird
Red skin potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Creamed spinach, her secret recipe and it was great!
Pumpkin pie w/whip cream
Then we sat around with the two schnauzers watching the movies AVP 2 and Doom.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: -=Gobble Gobble... Happy Thanksgiving=- (11/27/2008 8:25:27 PM)

Fox and I announced our engagement for Thanksgiving since it was 1 yar exactly from when I met his family. His grandmother cooked enough to feed an army and invited about half of one over through various relatives.
We came home fairly early since we both work retail and tomorrow is the dreaded Black Friday.
I will to my triptophan coma and just sleep dinner off.

oh GOD!! 2 dinners, both with friends from de Shed. i made home made yeast rolls, squash cheese cassarole, pumpkin sourcreme pound cake, and an evil peanut butter pie from hell.

first dinner was all that mess, then with turkey, stuffing with apples and cranberries, plus loaded mashed tators. along with broc cassarole, pea salad, sweat tators, freash cranberry sauce. i think that was it. there were 3 of us cooking. about killed us. oh and rasberry cheese cake.

the second dinner was all my mess, a turkey, stuffing, mashed tators, broc, baked sweat tators, gibblet gravy, green beans, cranberries. yes that was it.

now i am going to sleep until saturday about 10, and not going to eat until sunday. the pie was evil and nasty and tried to corrupt me. i want it reported for unpie like conduct or something.

smooches
lee
